We have been given some information regarding the local park by Belvidere in regards to drugs. We wanted to inform all Parents/Carers of this information so you are able to appropriately safeguard your child.
We have discussed this information with the local policing team.
Good afternoon,
We have had a rather busy week in Willow Class getting everything back under way for the second part of the Summer Term.
We have continued reading our book ‘Who let the Gods out’ by Maz Evans, in English we have written diary entries based on one of the main characters we have come across. In maths we have been revisiting measurements and checking our understanding. One child who has settled into the day and their lessons quickly this week and is our Golden Certificate Winner is Harley – congratulations.
We have lots of exciting events coming up this half term starting with two trips next week. On Monday we are going to Crucial Crew, please ensure the children bring a coat, their packed lunch and that they arrive promptly. On Friday we we are off to Arthog, children need to arrive at school at the usual time but come up through the office rather than across the playground and incase any have got lost, the kit list is on Teams.
We hope you have a great weekend,
Mr Reynolds and Miss Nicholas
Happy Friday!
In English, we have been looking at the poem ‘The Sound Collector’. The children found features of the poem and we looked further at repetition, alliteration and onomatopoeia. Well done, Noah who correctly spelt ‘onomatopoeia’ this morning.
We have started our new topic ‘sound’ in Science and how sounds are made. One child who really impressed during our lesson was Archie. He was a golden certificate winner this week. Archie is a great member of Sycamore Class and always tries hard. Well done, Archie.
We have started our unit on shape in maths. We have looked at angles as turns, how to identify angles and comparing and ordering angles. Today we looked at properties of triangles.
The children have enjoyed practising their timestables in class. Please remember to practise at home.

Have a great weekend.

The children all settled back into school well and have worked very hard on our new topics. We are continuing our work on persuasive writting and will be writing a speech. We are accurately measuring and drawing shapes in maths. In science we are beginning out topic on plants. However the children are most excited about our history topic of crime and punishment throughout the ages!
PE will be Monday and Wednesday for the next two weeks.
Hace a great weekend and remember – read, read, read!
Miss Roberts and Miss Harris
Welcome back!
In English, we have been looking at a Mayan folklore story. We have tweaked the story to make it our own and will be creating our very own individual books on this. How exciting!
In Maths, we have started looking at negative numbers. We have looked at how to count through zero into negatives and also compare these numbers.
We had a fantastic art lesson this afternoon, where the children created a clay tile with a Mayan design/pattern etched into it. We had a great time experimenting with the clay.
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Tyler-Jay. He worked hard this morning in English to think of powerful adjectives for his Mayan folklore story. Well Done!
Have a great weekend

It’s been lovely to see all the children back after the half term break to hear all their news and start our new theme of Summer! We started the week reading the story The Train Ride by June Crebbin and talking about all the places you can go by train. The children had a super time role-playing travelling on a train, taking turns to be the conductor and making their own tickets. Yesterday they turned it into a reading train, where everyone on it had to read a book! 🙂
They have enjoyed drawing and writing about who would be at the end of their train journey and also where they might end up if they went through a magic tunnel! There were some very interesting choices and some super writing.
In phonics they have continued to learn longer words and practiced ‘chunking’ them to help us read them easier. They have also learned the tricky words there, when, what and one.
In Maths the children have consolidated their understanding of grouping, by finding out how many ice creams they can decorate with 12 sprinkles if they are grouped in 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s or 6’s! Some children were starting to see the connections such as you can only decorate 2 ice creams with 6 sprinkles, but you can decorate 6 ice creams if you only put 2 on etc.
We’ve also talked about the seasons and discussed the changes we see, hear and feel. We all agreed that summer makes us happy as we all get to be outside more (when it’s not raining!), go to the park and the beach and of course eat ice creams! We have now turned our home corner into an ice-cream parlour which they are enjoying ‘working’ in and visiting as customers. They also enjoyed crafting sunflowers, which we all felt were the flower of the summer and made us smile. Keep an eye on Tapestry to see more!
Today we started practicing for Sports Day (9.30am 18th June) – that does seem to have come round rather quick! We have practiced two different events today, one of which was Javelin. We definitely have some budding athletes in our class with powerful throws and I am very glad the javelins are only foam considering how far some of them managed to throw them (almost at me!) today!
Please remember to record in your child’s reading record each time you read with them. Lots of them are telling us they have read but without it recorded we cannot count it towards their chance of picking from the Lucky Dip box!
Have a lovely weekend. Fingers crossed the sun stays with us!

On Tuesday 11th June the photographer will be in school for annual class photos. Please ensure children are in full school uniform. If your child normally comes in PE kit on this day please ensure they are in school uniform on this occasion.
Beech Class’ Sports Day is on Tuesday 18th June at 9.30am.
This has been on the school website since back in September so I hope most of you will be able to make it. Pupils will need to come to school in their PE kits that day. They do not need a coloured t-shirt if you don’t have one, please do not buy one especially.
