Willow – 17.11.23

Good afternoon,

I was very impressed today by how committed the children were to wearing their spotty and Pudsey outfits to raise money for Children In Need. Thank you for all of your support.

This week we have looked at character descriptions in English and have really focused on adding and subtracting fractions. One child who has done this particularly well and is this week’s Golden Certificate Winner is Jess – congratulations.

We have continued our science unit by recapping our understanding of symbols for components, ready for our investigation. In computing, we have continued our focus on websites and the children have started designing their own.

Please keep up the daily reading,

Mr Reynolds and Miss Nicholas

Good afternoon,

I have been really impressed with how hard the children have been working this week and some of the work that is being produced is fantastic.

This week we concluded our investigation into mould, where the children studied how successful they were and thought of ways that they could have potentially changed their investigation to make it more successful. In geography we have been looking at the uses of a river at various points along its course. In English, we have continued to explore non-chronological reports.

One child who has done particularly well this week and is Willow’s Golden Certificate Winner is Teigan – congratulations.

This week the Parents Evening letters went out, spaces are filling up fast so please try and return them on Monday to have a better chance at getting a time slot that suits you.

Good afternoon,

The children have produced some fantastic non-chronological reports on an animal of their choice; they have thought about the content and the presentation. In maths, we have continued to look at the four operations, particularly multiplication and division.

In geography we have continued to look at the features of a river and in which part of the river we are more likely to find certain features. In our classification study, in science, we have begun to look at viruses, bacteria and mould.

This week’s Golden Certificate winner is George, for his hard work through the week, particularly in English.

Willow – 22.9.23

Good afternoon,

I have been very impressed with the children’s attitude to their learning this week, they have been really trying across the board. In maths, we started our new unit covering the four operations and in English the children have planned and began writing a persuasive letter. One child in particular who has really tried their best this week and is our Golden Certificate winner is Scarlett – congratulations.

In geography, we have explored the different sections on a river and have began to focus on the River Severn. Whilst in science, we have been looking at classification. We also carried out our first reading test this week, where the children have achieved some good scores, so it is really important we continue this and the children keep reading daily at home.

I hope you have a great weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 8.9.23

Good afternoon,

Wow what a first week in Year 6.

I have been very impressed by the children’s attitude and their behaviour in class. One child who has demonstrated this and is this week’s Golden Certificate winner is Isobel.

This week we have started a range of units, however I have stressed to the children the importance of reading. I do expect them to be reading at home daily and to be able to talk about what they have read.

Please can you help the children to make sure they wear the correct uniform each day.  Our PE day is Thursday and on Friday we will be starting our swimming lessons.

If you have any questions or queries please email willow@crowmoorschool.co.uk or contact the office.

I hope you all have a great weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 14.7.23

Good afternoon.

I would like to say thank you for all of your support with Shakespeare Rocks; the children’s outfits were great and they really knew their lines and the lyrics. It was brilliant to see so many of you watching and celebrating their final Crowmoor production.

Next week we have sports day on Tuesday morning, starting at 9:30am. The children will be trying to get as many points for their house as possible, rather than their normal P.E. top they can wear a top supporting the colour of their house.

This week the children have finished off their story books and have continued to look at methodical approaches and strategy in maths. In science we are exploring evolution and inheritance.

I hope you all have a fun weekend,

Mr Reynolds
