Willow – 13.5.22

Good afternoon,

I have been really impressed this week at how hard the children focused and tried their best in the SATs and then have kept that focus for the rest of the day.

In geography, we compared the climate of England to Greece; in art, we began investigating the print artist India Flint, and in P.S.H.E. we explored why we need to talk about all our emotions (positive, negative, happy, sad).

Next week, the children will have P.E. on Tuesday as well as their usual Wednesday and Friday sessions.

Have a fun weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 6.5.22

Good afternoon,

We have managed to fit a lot of things in our 4 day week. In English, the children have created their own short story, they are very creative and some are really showing how good a writer they are. In maths, we have looked at division and multiplication,

In Geography, we tried to find another town in Europe that shared similar features to Shrewsbury, although tricky, the children came up with an interesting range. For computing, we continued to look at design and shape.

Next week is SAT’s week, please ensure all children arrive at the usual time in their normal school uniform.

Hope you have a fun weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 29.4.22

Good afternoon,

We have had a full on first week back. In maths, we have revisited ways of tackling and representing questions, finding answers and solutions. In English, we have looked at how we create a character description and have had a go and creating some of our own.

This term for topic, we are exploring Eastern Europe, paying particular attention to Greece, then diving in to the Ancient Greeks.

Have and enjoyable and safe bank holiday, please keep encouraging the children to read,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 01.04.22

Good afternoon,

We have had a very productive week in Willow class. In English, we have looked at instructional texts; we had to make sure we didn’t assume people just knew what we were talking about. In maths, we have begun looking at angles, in particular, using a protractor accurately.

In design and technology, we have continued building our robots to explore a planet. In history, we looked at the terms ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ information and linked this to Spring.

Please ensure all the children have a restful weekend and keep up the reading,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 25.03.22

Good afternoon,

This week was our assessment week; the children all tried very hard and I was impressed by their focus. The tests confirmed the need for the children to read daily at home and a range of text types, so please keep encouraging them to do so.

In English, this week, we have focused on description, which has resulted in the children describing what is behind a door. They have all brought their writing home with them so that they can share their work with you.

In science, we have planned an investigation; in history, we have looked at geocentric and heliocentric views of the universe and in design and technology we have started to create our robots to explore other planets.

I hope the children all have a restful weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Willow – 18.03.22

Good afternoon,

We have had interesting week; writing newspaper articles on setting off bottle rockets on the school playground (the children have taken a copy of their work home this evening to show you); investigating components in electricity and exploring GROWTH as part of Science Week.

We have concluded our unit on perimeter, area and volume (in maths) by using a range of manipulatives to consolidate our understanding. In our history lesson, we explored some ideas around how people use to view the Earth and the advance in technology which has changed our ideas and understanding.

Please keep encouraging the children to read and rehearse their times tables.

Hope you all have a great weekend,

Mr Reynolds
