Elm Newsletter 13.5.22

I am so proud of your children, they continue to impress me with their independence and hard work!

They have ALL now completed the Statutory Assessments for the End of Key Stage 1. These will inform the End of Key Stage 1 Teacher Assessment using the Teacher assessment frameworks at the end of key stage 1 – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)  These results will be reported on in the End of Year Pupil Reports.

We have been enjoying some outdoor learning when the weather has been kind, please continue to send children with a coat as the weather is unpredictable!

The tadpoles are now turning into little frogs and we have made a ‘froggery’ in the classroom. We have children standing by just in case they try to hop out, some are quite determined. We shall be setting them free into the school pond very soon. They have had a good start but now they must go out and fend for themselves!

Have a fab weekend,

Mrs Dowell, Mrs Armstrong and Miss Pritchard

Willow – 13.5.22

Good afternoon,

I have been really impressed this week at how hard the children focused and tried their best in the SATs and then have kept that focus for the rest of the day.

In geography, we compared the climate of England to Greece; in art, we began investigating the print artist India Flint, and in P.S.H.E. we explored why we need to talk about all our emotions (positive, negative, happy, sad).

Next week, the children will have P.E. on Tuesday as well as their usual Wednesday and Friday sessions.

Have a fun weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Sycamore Weekly Class Newsletter 13.5.22

Hello!

We are at the end of the week!

We have had so much fun this week. In Literacy, we have written and performed our very own play scripts. The imagination was amazing!

In maths, we have been learning about position and direction. We have learned how to plot co-ordinates on a grid and how to translate shapes. Next week we will be moving on to time.

In science this week, we have talked about changed of state. We have investigated how solids melt into liquids and that this is a reversible change. We even got to eat some chocolate! (Thank you Miss Childs!)

Have a fantastic weekend!

Miss Allison

Hazel Class Weekly Newsletter 13.5.22

Hello everyone,

In Literacy, we have planned, written and performed our own play scripts. The children have really impressed me with their understanding of the layout of a play script and also their creative plays/ performances were great to see!

In Maths, we have been learning about position and directions, understanding coordinates. We have really enjoyed this unit, particularly moving objects on a grid.

In Science this week, we carried out an investigation on melting, different food items to test the melting times. Including chocolate, which we then used to make cornflake cakes and froze the chocolate back to a solid.

Can I please remind you that when children come in their P.E. kit on a Monday and Thursday, they should be wearing dark blue or black jogging bottoms, a plain white t-shirt and a dark blue or black hoodie (or a school jumper/cardigan). Any pumps or trainers which stay on their feet as they run around. If children have their ears pierced, they must be able to take them out themselves.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Bliss, Mrs Martin and Miss Harrison
