Holly Class have been busy reading about Bronto the dinosaur, who had tummy ache because accidentally ate a little boy! The children are really enjoying the story and had some fun ideas on how to get ‘Billy’ out! We have had fun role playing the story with puppets and talking about the different characters.  In reception maths we have been learning all about 6 and 7.  The children are enjoying making the numbers and are very good at using their fast fingers too.  In Year 1 maths we have been comparing number facts and using the greater than and less than symbols.  We have all worked extremeley hard.  In science we are continuing learning about everyday materials and their properties. While in History we have been comparing our life to mary Anning’s.

Please remember to bring the school story books back to school so that we can change them.

Enjoy the weekend!

holly Class Weekly News 10.12.21

This week we have been very busy practising and filming our Christmas performance to share with you.  The children have worked hard to learn the songs and their lines.  Thank you for bringing in costumes for them to wear.  We have also been writing independently for assessment.  We are very proud of all the children and the super effort they have put into their work.  In maths this week we have been learning and practising our number bonds.

We have sent home a list of Christmas activities which the children can participate in next week.  Please dont buy anything extra!  There will be lots more Christmas activities throughout the week within classes.

Have a lovely weekend

Holly Class News 8.10.2021

This week Year 1 have been using part, part whole models in maths to partition numbers.  Next week we will be looking at using these to complete addition problems.  In Reception we have been learning all about the number 1.  We have found objects and represented 1 using numerals, objects and words.  In literacy we have been looking at non-fiction books about every day super hero’s  and we have been identifying the features of these texts.

We had an amazing visit from The fire service, where we learned about the jobs firefighters do and fire safety.  We even got to use their hose! The pictures are all on tapestry.  Next week we will be having a visit from the police, maybe you could talk to your child about questions they might like to ask the police officers.

Holly Class weekly news 24.9.2021

What a week! The Evil Pea kidnapped Charlie Bear and left him under the tree by breakfast club.  So we made wanted posters to help catch him.  We haven’t found The Evil Pea yet and when Miss Jones went to answer the phone, he trapped her in a big box, luckily the children found Miss Jones and helped her to escape.  Then when Miss Roberts went to tidy the music shed The Evil Pea closed the door and locked her in, the children found her and unlocked the shed.  Hopefully we will capture him next week!  We have also been painting super hero characters, making traps to catch The Evil Pea, problem solving in maths and having lots of fun learning.

Please remember to send your child’s free choice book to school each day so that it can be swapped regularly.  We also have a large number of cardigans and jumpers left in school with no names.  Please remember to name all of your child’s possessions.

Chestnut Weekly News

This week in Chestnut has been as busy as usual.  It was lovely to see everyone dressed in red, white and blue on Monday and all the children had a great attitude towards the football, even though some were very disappointed that England lost in the final, they were very positive about the whole experience.

Red, White and Blue Day

We have done lots of outdoor learning for our maths and played team games.  We have been practising all our Year 1 spellings, number bonds and times tables.  We have also used the school grounds to identify different plants and mini beasts.

With the weather being warmer please remember to send a drink every day, a hat and sun cream.

Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine!
