Well what a busy term it has been. A great week to end it with our Carol Service, Christmas activities and a visit from Santa.
This week we have been finishing our lights in DT, talking about what Christmas means to us and others and looking at our British Values.
Our Golden Certificate Winner is Jake K. Jake is always eager to contribute to class discussions and his hard work has shown this term with the progress he has made, especially reading and times tables. Jake has also impressed us in DT to create his light. Well done, Jake.
Well done to all the children for a fantastic first term in Year 4. We hope you have a lovely Christmas and a well earnt rest, and come back ready to learn in the new year.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Mrs Fairclough, Miss Shadbolt and Mrs Davies.
Beech Newsletter 16.12.2022
We’ve had a very busy but lovely Christmassy week with the church, dinner, a disco AND a special visitor yesterday. I can barely believe the term is over already. The children have worked so hard this term I am sure they are more than ready for a rest.
They have come home with cards and decorations they have made as well as cards from friends and a little gift from the adults in Beech Class so please ensure bags are checked and emptied before we return on 4th January.
We hope you all have a lovely time together over the Christmas break but please do try and make time for a little reading over the holidays so the children return ready to learn new sounds as we start the next level of phonics in the new year.
We wish you all a very merry Christmas and we will see you in the New Year.

What a busy week we have had! Wednesday was a complete success with a Carol Service at the Church, back to school for a Christmas Dinner and then a disco, all on one day. Well done everyone!
All the children have finished their story books and are really proud of their results. You will have a chance to see them at the next parent’s evening. We will start a new topic after Christmas which will build on the knowledge and English skills they have learnt since being in Elm Class.
After Christmas we will be starting quite a long maths block of multiplication and division. We will start by using equipment, draw pictures to represent groups and then use the multiplication and division symbols to write number sentences. Please continue to help your child to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. This will help them to solve division problems too.
In the new year we will be spending more time completing comprehension questions. The children read very well but they need to improve how they use evidence from the text to answer questions. Over the holidays, please keep reading so that they keep the good habits that they have.
Thank you very much for the gifts and kind words. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Best wishes,
Mrs Dowell and Mrs Armstrong

Wow! Christmas break already. This term has flown by and we have had so much fun in Year One. It was lovely to see so many of you at the Christmas Carol Service and I am sure you will agree the children did a great job.
This week we have been busy enjoying Christmas, making cards, having a disco and a special visit from Santa himself!
Have a lovely Christmas

Good afternoon,
Wow, what a week we have had to finish the autumn term. From finishing our character descriptions, to carols at the church, to our Christmas lunch and a disco we have managed to fit a lot in.
I have been very impressed with how the children have focused and how they have tried very hard across all the subjects and topics we have covered. One child that has been particularly focused, a role model and this week’s Golden Certificate is Alice, congratulations.
I hope the children enjoy the festive break and have plenty of time to relax. My only request for the children over the break is to keep up the reading – it really does make all the difference.
Finally, I would like to say thank you very much for all the cards and presents, they are very thoughtful.
Hope you all have an enjoyable break,
Mr Reynolds

And that’s it! We have reached the end of the term.
Just a quick message to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Olivia. She has a great attitude to learning and has achieved some great results in recent assessments. She has taken the Oak Class Diary home to let us know what she gets up to over the Christmas break. Well Done Olivia!
We will see you in 2023!

Hazel Class Weekly Newsletter 16.12.22
Hello everyone,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the Christmas service at the Baptist Church on Wednesday!
This week, we have enjoyed completing different Christmas activities to celebrate such a fantastic half term! We have made cards, decorations and enjoyed a Christmas dinner together. I am so proud of all of the children’s achievements this term and can’t wait to see what next term brings for Hazel Class.
Next term we will be learning about the Egyptians. Our topic is, ‘What have we learnt from the Egyptians?’. We will be leaning all about the Egyptians and the river Nile, including the water cycle. In guided reading our class book will be ‘There’s a Pharaoh in our Bath!’ by Jeremy Strong.
Well done to this weeks golden certificate winner Anya, for her wonderful hard work this term and for being a great member of our Hazel team!
Thank you for all of your support this term and the kind gifts. It really has been a pleasure working alongside you and your children this term.
We look forward to seeing the children back at school on Wednesday 4th January.
Have a wonderful Christmas,
Miss Bliss and Mrs Martin
