Willow – 15.7.22

Good afternoon,

Thank you to everyone who supported the children with the production, whether this was with costumes, singing, learning lines or coming to watch. I was really impressed with how well they performed and the confidence that they demonstrated.

This week we have been making films about the school and the children have written their speeches for their assembly.

Today they have brought home their books as well as an envelope containing their report, SATs results and other pieces of information.

Next week we have asked all children to wear their P.E. kit due to the weather that is forecast. Please check they remember to bring in their water bottle.

Hope you all have a good weekend,

Mr Reynolds

Sycamore Weekly Class Newsletter 15.07.22

Hello!

The end of another week! We are on the final stretch now to the end of the year. What a week we have had. We’ve finished our unit on properties of shape in maths, and we have completed our explanation texts in literacy.

On Monday, we watched the Year 5 and 6 dress rehearsal for their production. We thoroughly enjoyed this!

Tuesday was sports day. We ran, jumped and egg and spooned our way to the finish line and had lots of fun doing so. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to Mrs Brunyard for working so hard to organise it!

Next week, children are welcome to come to school in their P.E. kits, due to the warm weather. Wednesday will be a non-uniform day.

Have a fab weekend!

Miss Allison and Mrs Davies

Changes To FSM Funding

The funding for the support vulnerable families with food costs outside of school term time is provided through a Government grant called the Household Support Fund.  This grant funding comes with specific rules on how it can be used.  The rules for the funding allocated to Shropshire Council and all other English local authorities from 1 April to September 2022 includes a new requirement for a third of the money to be allocated to support vulnerable pensioners in our community.

This change in the rules has meant that we have had to reallocate funding used to support families with children to support pensioners.  As a result Shropshire Council is unable to allocate as much funding to support vulnerable families with food costs this summer as it did last summer.  We supported families at Whitsun half-term, but are only able to provide support for half of the summer holidays 2022, at £15 per week for 3 weeks.

We understand that times are hard with the cost of living crisis and want to assure parents that there is additional support on offer in Shropshire. All children eligible for free school meals can access free food and activities over summer through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. Visit our website or ask your school for more information.

If any families struggling to meet essential living costs they can apply for help from our local welfare provision funding. You can speak to the team on 0345 678 9078.

Regards

Phil Wilson

HAF

There are still some places on the HAF programme this Summer. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals they should have come home with a leaflet with a code that enables you to access the funding. If you have not received this, please contact Miss Cave.
