The end to another amazing week!

We have had the pleasure of having Read the Game again this week. We had a great morning, and even had a surprise visit from Lenny the Lion!

We have continued to work on our instructions writing in English, and we are nearing the end of our multiplication and division unit in Maths. I have set more Mathletics, if the children could please complete these at home. Please could children remember spellings and reading at home too!

Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Skye! She has shown a fantastic effort this week, especially in her work in Maths when dividing using short division. Well Done Skye! She will take home the Oak Class Diary this week.

Happy Friday!

In English this week, we have focused on imperative verbs and how these are used in instructions. We have made a start to adverbials of time and how these add extra information but are important when writing instructions.

In Maths, we have continued looking at multiplication and have mastered multiplying up to 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers! Next week, we will begin to look at division.

We had great fun this week in Art, where we made our own landscape collages based on the artist Ansel Adams. We rewound back into times where photographs were in black and white and recreated a scene of mountains, linking to our Geography this term.

We also began our Read the Game programme this week, where the children discussed why it is important to read. The programme will encourage children to read as write with a sport and football focus.

Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Mark! He has had a fantastic week and has been “ON FIRE” in both English and Maths. Well Done Mark! He will take home the Oak Class Diary this week.

Happy December!

We have had a great week kicking off the festive activities for December.

In Literacy, we have continued to work on character descriptions, where we have used powerful adjectives and different conjunctions to upgrade our sentences.

In Maths, we have carried on learning about fractions, where we are now able to add mixed numbers. To practice this skill, we have completed many games with peers that test our knowledge.

We have decorated our tree with our mini wreaths and even have some naughty elves in our classroom! Miss Hipkiss was not happy to see them suspended from the ceiling AND they did not join their handwriting!

Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Jack! He has made a fabulous trench model and undertook great research for his homework. Well Done! He will take the Oak Class Diary home this weekend.

Another amazing week has come to an end!

We have been super busy in Oak Class this week, including our jungle invasion! We took part in a bush tucker trial eating challenge this week, where the children tasted different fruits and vegetables for our work in D+T.

In Literacy, we have continued our work on character descriptions and have now started to look at setting descriptions linked to WW2.

In Maths, the children have worked so hard in developing their knowledge of fractions. We are now onto applying this knowledge to add and subtract fractions.

Our Golden Certificate winner this week is Archie! He has made fantastic progress in his reading and has read multiple times both at home and at school. He was also very enthusiastic at the bush tucker trial about trying new foods.

Sadly, our swimming unit has come to an end this week, so the children will no longer need to bring swimming kits in on a Friday.

What a jam-packed week we have had!

In Literacy, the children have been working on their character descriptions writing. They have all created their own World War 2 evacuee or soldier and will be writing up their detailed description next week.

In Maths, we have been looking more at fractions. All children have worked really hard at this tricky content, and we will continue to develop our knowledge of fractions next week.

This week has been a very busy week celebrating ‘Friendship week’. We have looked at what makes a good friend and how we can support each other. Some children wore odd socks to celebrate this throughout the week and we have decorated our door to show ways in which we promote kindness and friendship in our classroom and around the school. Our Golden Certificate this week goes to Zack! He has had an amazing week and has demonstrated a huge improvement in making good choices and his commitment to learning. He has formed many positive relationships with peers in the class and has demonstrated these both inside and outside of the classroom. He will take the Oak Class Diary home this weekend. Well Done Zack!

To finish off the week, the children have had a great day celebrating and raising money for Children In Need Day by wearing all of their colourful clothes and participating in many fun Pudsey activities.
