Everyone at Crowmoor hopes to raise funds for this amazing cause by wearing spots or yellow and making a donation. So dig out those Pudsey ears, head bands, socks or T shirts and wear them with “fun” and “smiles” on Friday.
We would be happy with any donation that you can make on this day.
Jane and The Friends of Crowmoor tell me there will be some scrumptious cakes on sale too, Yum! So we can eat cake and donate.
I’m really looking forward to Friday, I’m sure it will be “SPOTACULAR!”

We have worked hard this week planning our information text about badgers. The children remembered how to add extra information by asking ‘did you know’ questions and how to join words using ‘and’. We finished our information pages and shared them with each other. There were some interesting and slightly suprising facts.Did you know badgers eat hedgehogs?
In our maths we have continued to learn number bonds to 10 and to work systematically. We have been playing games to help us learn our number facts. Our favourite is fill the cookie jar. Please help your child to learn their bonds to ten by a little practise each day at home. you could ask, how do you make 10? if I have 6 sweets how many more do I need to make 10? add up the numbers on car number plates.
We are observing the weather and change in seasons in science. Next week we will be making a simple weather station to help us.
We are practising our christmas play in the afternoons. If your child has lines to say please could help them to learn them at home.
This week in Literacy, we’ve been continuing to look at character descriptions. We’ve been looking at apostrophes for possessions and expanded noun phrases. We have also been looking at Sir Captain Tom Moore when he was a young soldier, ready to write about him next week.
In Maths, we have started our unit of work on multiplication and division. We have been multiplying and dividing by 3, 6 and 9. We have been looking at strategies to help us, such as looking for number patterns and using the times tables we know.
Our Golden Certificate winner is Isaac for trying hard. He has been focused and working hard in all subjects. Well done, Isaac.
Today we have been talking about Remembrance and had a 2-minute silence in the hall. We found out that why we wear poppies, that poppies can be recycled and where the money goes.

Happy Friday!
I would like to start off by saying how proud I am of Oak Class today for how well they paid their respects for Remembrance Day at swimming. The swimming staff all commended Year 5 on their behaviour today. Well done!
In Literacy, the children have begun to look at character descriptions, where they have looked at all different characters and used grammar features to upgrade their sentences when describing them. We will continue to look at this next week, where the children will create their own character in WW2.
In Maths, we have begun a new unit on Fractions. The children have made a great start to this, and I have seen some great contributions throughout the week.
This week our Golden certificate Winner is Logan for his great improvement in his attitude to learning. His efforts have been noticed especially in Maths by Mr Bates. He will take the Oak Class Diary home this weekend. Well Done Logan!
To top off a great week, Oak Class also won the attendance award this week! A great improvement! As a result, we all enjoyed eating our jelly babies this afternoon, whilst watching Newsround.

Hello everyone,
We have had a busy week in Hazel Class!
In Literacy, we have been looking at the grammar features of a character description. The children have understood and used apostrophes for possession and expanded noun phrases.
In Maths, we have begun our multiplication and division unit. We have been making equal groups using multi-link to support us and have also used arrays to solve a range of multiplication questions. We have explored multiples of 2,5 and 10. You can find information on how to support your children with timetables at home on the Hazel class information page.
In Geography, we looked at a range of maps, we then used this to draw our own map, showing our journey to school. In Computing, we have created an animation with 4 frames during the iMovie on the iPad.
Today, children have come home with a new homework sheet for this term. I was so impressed with the wonderful homework I have seen so far this year. Thank you for your support with this.
Well done to our golden certificate winner, Libby for her wonderful contribution during class discussions.

Good afternoon,
The children have continued to impress in English this week. We have focused heavily on commas and how we can get sentences to flow on from each other. The children have created some lovely descriptive paragraphs and am I looking forward to seeing what they can achieve next week.
In maths, we are well in to our fraction unit, checking our understanding of finding equivalent and simplifying fractions. Next week we move on to addition and subtraction.
As part of our computing we have the use of crumbles for this half term, which the children have explored this week and are keen to start creating and programming next week. In history we have continued our WW2 topic by looking at evacuees, the children did an excellent job of putting themselves in an evacuee’s shoes and thought about what it must have been like.
This week our Golden Certificate went to a child that has contributed to discussion through out the week and has really shown us what he can do in his writing. Congratulations Noah.
