Acting Head Teacher’s Catch Up: Friday 22nd September 2023

Good afternoon,

here we are at the end of our third week back and time is whizzing by.

I wanted to say a huge thank you to you all: I know it is early days but our new “Drop Off” system went really well this morning. The children came in superbly, joined their friends and classes to wait for the whistle. They were all safely into their classes quickly.

The children were very positive this morning.

Thank you for your support, changes can be hard but with Team Crowmoor working together we can make changes a little easier.

“Always Proud To Be Crowmoor.”

Acting Head: Welcome Back! Friday 8th September 2023

Hello,

welcome back to everyone, it has been super to see all of you and your children again after the Summer break. I hope you all had a good Summer, what a shame that the weather has only just arrived.

You will see by the heading that I am Acting Head for a while longer. As soon as there is any news I will let you know. We continue to work with Shine Academies, we are all committed to improving the children’s learning and achievements.

I have been really pleased to see that the children have returned in their new uniforms: our uniform requirements are on the web but just in case; blue and white dresses, black/grey trousers and white/blue polo shirts (with or without our logo,)grey skirts or pinafores, navy blue sweatshirt or cardigan with or without our logo and black, flat shoes. Our PE uniform is very similar with black/navy shorts, white T shirt and/or black/navy jogging bottoms with trainers. Please let us know if you are finding it difficult to buy uniform, come and talk to us – we can help.

Our jewelry policy is also available on the web: earrings should be studs and removed for PE, no other jewelry but a watch, which is named, can be worn but your child will be responsible for it. The watch should not have the ability to send or receive messages.

I am very proud of our uniform and the children look extremely smart in it.

We pride ourselves in promoting a healthy lifestyle and eating healthily is part of our curriculum. We would really appreciate your help, if your child brings a snack to school it should be fruit, raisins, vegetables and/or a healthy bar. All of Beech, Elm and Chestnut classes have access to fruit at break times. Our school policy is for all children to have a water bottle in school with their name on it. They can refill with water throughout the day. Thank you for your support.

Two other reminders are as follows:

You should not drive into the car park unless you have a registered disability – there is a parking space for disabled drivers on site. The car park is extremely busy throughout the day with deliveries and staff coming to school and is not suitable for children to be walking across. Please drop off and collect your child via walking through the main gate.

I am extremely pleased to see more children cycling or using a scooter to get to and from school wearing their helmets. Once you and your child are at the outside school gate cycles and scooters should be pushed and parked in the designated cycle structures. We have a lot of adults and children and some very small children on our play-ground, cycling and scooting is dangerous on a crowded play-ground. I hope you can support us with this and everyone will be much safer.

Goodness, I seem to have had to add rather a lot of reminders but at least we will start as we mean to go on. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask – my door is open and the team at Crowmoor are willing to help. You can contact us/me in the usual way via a visit to the office, telephone or email.

I hope you have a super weekend, “Always Proud to be Crowmoor.”

Mrs P

P.S. Are there any of you with “green” fingers out there? We desperately need some help weeding The Late Queen’s Memorial Garden which is at the front of the school. There honestly are some beautiful roses, lavender and other plants in amongst Jack’s Beanstalk! Please let me know if you can help… Thank you.

Update! Friday 23rd June 2023

Dear Parent/Carers,

SHINE Academies | Villiers Primary

I just wanted to let you know that we are pleased to announce that “Shine Academies” have been named as our Sponsors. Over the coming weeks and months there will be a number of meetings which you will be invited to to find out more about the process of academisation and how it will affect Crowmoor. The one certainty is that there will be changes but “The Crowmoor Family” are ready to embrace these. Indeed, we have already started to implement training for phonics, we have ensured consistency in out approaches to behaviours across the school and we have reviewed our curriculum in our foundation subjects. These are just a few things which we have been busy doing.

On Monday we welcome our new children to their Reception Class: Beech; for a “Stay and Play” session. This is such an exciting time but also one of anxiety for some parents and children. It is an enormous step starting school. The children will stay in their new classroom with their new teacher: Miss Shadbolt. Mrs Kenny will continue to be part of the EYFS team in Beech Class. It was great to have met many of you this week at the first “Induction” session. I wish them all lots of luck as they start their school journey at Crowmoor.

Crowmoor Primary School & Nursery | News and Information for ...

As we move nearer to the end of term and then the new academic year all of our children will have the opportunity to meet their new teachers in their new classrooms on Monday 3rd July for the morning.

Our staff structure will look like this from September:

Reception: Miss Shadbolt

Year 1: Mrs Dowell

Year 2: Miss Jones

Year 3: Mrs Roberts

Year 4: Mrs Brunyard (3 days) Mrs Fairclough (2 days.)

Year 5: Miss Hipkiss

Year 6: Mr Reynolds

The staff are all looking forward to meeting their new classes.

My door is always open if you have any questions. I have met many parents who have been extremely supportive and kind over the last year, to you I say a huge thank you.

We are, as our new signs say, “Proud To Be Crowmoor” always.

Enjoy your weekend,

Mrs P x

Thank You!

Good afternoon,

just a quick note to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate the Coronation of King Charles 111 this afternoon. The rain did not dampen our enjoyment. It was lovely to welcome so many of you and I really enjoyed chatting to you all. Crowmoor did it again and a good time was had by all. We were pretty lucky and I know lots of you managed to eat your picnics between the showers! Certainly dancing in the rain has a whole new meaning…

Thank you to The Friends of Crowmoor and all of the Staff who help to make these super events run so smoothly. But it has to be said the children just made the afternoon, all dressed in their red, white and blue outfits. The effort that was put into making the crowns was plain for all to see – well done. The winners will be announced and a prize awarded during next week’s assemblies.

Enjoy the rest of the long weekend and I shall see you all next Tuesday.

Best wishes,

Mrs.P. x

End of Spring Term from Mrs P

30 Free Easter Bunny Coloring Pages Printable

Dear Parent/Carers,

It has been a long term in many, many ways – short in time but long in learning. Once again the children have been superb and this is down to the super learning activities the Team at Crowmoor plan for them. They have worked hard and I hope they will have a very happy and restful Easter.

Many thanks to everyone involved in the Year 3 and 4 production – well done, the children always rise to the occasion. Beech, Elm and Chestnut classes had a fabulous time at the Sea-Life Centre. Oak and Willow thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Abbey – an incredible experience to help them learn about Medieval Monkmoor. A huge thank you to staff and volunteers for making these incredibly valuable experiences possible.

Each class teacher will upload their thematic webs to their class pages in the first week back and you will soon see some of the planned experiences for next term. The Summer is already looking very busy!

The Friends of Crowmoor continue to be very active and we really appreciate the extra opportunities they arrange for our children – great discos and those little extras they bring throughout the term.

Our Admin team, kitchen, cleaning staff and Business Manager work tirelessly behind the scenes at school making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. Thank you.

Finally a huge thank you to you for making sure your children arrive at school on time and every day in their uniforms so that they are ready to learn. However, could I please remind you that if you have any worries please contact the school via the usual channels. It is so much better to speak to us rather than use social media to find out the answer to what may be a very simple and straight forward answer. The old saying,        ”  take it from the horses mouth” rings true and also stops and avoids any misunderstandings.

It remains to say you, the children and the whole team at Crowmoor deserve a well earned rest and peaceful Easter. I hope the Easter Bunny delivers lots of eggs for you to share.

Best wishes from Mrs.P.

Friday 27th January: Catch Up from Mrs P.

First of all, a huge thank you for the support and kindness you have shown us during our OFSTED this week. We have to wait for the final report and then we will be able to share with you what the OFSTED inspectors thought. This may take a number of weeks!

An update on strike action: Crowmoor Primary School will be open as usual next Wednesday 1st February. If there is any further news regarding the following strike days I will keep you up to date as soon as I can.

Meanwhile, I hope you all have a super weekend and manage to enjoy some fresh air.

Best wishes,

Mrs.P. x

Teacher’s Strikes and Catch Up!

Dear Parent/Carer,

you may have seen in the news that some teacher’s may strike on

Wednesday 1st February, Wednesday 1st March, Wednesday 15th March and Thursday 16th March.

The school is unlikely to fully close. However, I will let you all know by letter and via the website once I have firm details. I am also waiting for advice from the Local Authority.

It is the end of the second full week back at school. I wanted to say a very Happy New Year to you all. With a new year comes a new start and perhaps the need for a few reminders. You will find all of our policies on the web which indicate our expectations regarding many aspects of school life. Your children are very, very good at knowing the school rules indeed they pass them daily on their way to the dining room and the main hall. They also have them on display in their classrooms.

However, I would like to make a gentle reminder regarding break time and drinks: school policy and advice has always been that a healthy snack such as fruit for break and water to drink is our expectation. The children continue to have a bagel on arrival at school and access to drinking water throughout the day but I know many children like to bring their own drinking bottles with water: thank you.

I would also like to re-iterate our policy on uniform and hairstyles. I am really proud of our uniform: our logo was designed by a pupil and many of the children are very proud of it and their uniform. I collected at least 40 sweatshirts at the end of term – all without names! Could you make sure your child’s name is on the label. We also ask that pupils have suitable hairstyles for school. Shoulder length and long hair can be tied up, hair bands to keep long fringes out of their eyes are very sensible. The coaches have asked me to remind you that no jewellery should be worn in PE, it is much easier to leave ear rings at home on PE days but acceptable to wear studs on any other day. It has been wonderful to see so many children have watches for Christmas, again advisable  to leave them at home on PE days but for all other days please make sure your child has their name written somewhere so that it can be returned should it be mislaid.

I’m sure you will agree, it seems to be the same reminder but I am always very proud when Crowmoor children visit or are seen outside school and I am told they look very smart in their uniforms.

January is flying by: Sunday 22nd January sees the start of The Chinese New Year; it will be the year of the rabbit. “Xīnnián kuàilè” (新年快乐) or New Year Happiness.

Have a super weekend and I will see you all on Monday.
