Good afternoon everyone!
Hope the sunshine is here to stay, think we are all in need of a break from the rain.
On the note of sunshine, it is starting to warm up in the classroom and the children are starting to drink more. Can I please encourage you to send your child into school with a water bottle. They do have access to water but their own water bottle is preferred.
This week we have been looking at our new book ‘How to train your Dragon’. It has linked really well to our Science as we have planted our very own seeds this week. We have set up an experiment to see if different conditions impact plant growth. The children then used their plant knowledge to write a set of instructions in English based on growing their very own Dragon!!
In Maths, we have finished we finished our block on fractions. The children have all done very well in this topic and have really developed their understanding of finding 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4. They then moved onto look at equivalence and even used fractions to find parts of a whole number. They have all worked super hard and I am very impressed.
Reading has taken a little bit of a slow down of the past few weeks. Can I please encourage you to be reading with your child at home at least three times a week but preferably every night. It really is so important. Thank you.
In Art we have designed African celebratory masks that we are going to make next week. In Geography we researched the Kenyan Big 5 and looked at what it means if an animal is endangered or near extinction. In History we have discovered all about the lady of flight – Amelia Earhart. The children loved learning about her plane and her impressive journey.
Well done to Charlie for being our golden certificate winner this week. Charlie has read at home every night this week! Well done Charlie!!
Have a fab weekend!
