Hey!
Happy Friday, had a lovely week this week. We have been super busy learning lots of new things and starting to spread the excitement for World Book Day next Thursday. On Thursday, the children can come dressed as their favourite character from a book they love.
In Maths, we have been looking at mass. We have learnt about grams, kilograms and how to balance mass using scales. In English, we have continued our work based on our new book Einstein the Penguin and have written postcards pretending to be him getting in touch with his family back in Australia. The children really enjoyed learning about the sites of London that he has seen on his adventure. In Science, we are looking at Scientists and Inventors. This week we met Elizabeth Garratt Anderson, the first female Doctor! A lot of the children couldn’t believe that men did not like women being Doctors. In History we compared teachers from today to teachers from the Victorian Era. All of the children said they were glad to be children in 2024 and not children in 1824. In Art, we have practiced our skills with water colours and reminded ourselves of the primary and secondary colours.
PE – Monday and Tuesday. Please can we remind you that PE kit needs to be worn on both days, white top, dark top and bottoms with no large logos. Hair needs to be tied up and earrings need to be taken out. Thank you.
We are really trying to encourage the children to read more and see the pleasure within getting lost in a book. Can you please be encouraging your child to read at home. It does not have to be a school book. It can be a magazine, a recipe, a newspaper, a book from their own collection and it can be read to anyone in the house.
Well done to Bailey and Stanley who went away after the assembly on Monday and found out all about famous women of History. Both myself and Miss Roberts were very impressed with the efforts they had made to find things out outside of the classroom.
Finally, well done to Maddie for winning the Golden Certificate this week and well done to Declan for winning it last week!
Have a lovely weekend!
Miss Shadbolt and Mrs E 🙂
