KS2 Sport’s Day

Good afternoon,

It is KS2 (yr 3,4,5,6) Sport’s Day this Thursday (20th June). The children will be taking part in field events followed by some track events. During each event, the children will be trying to get points for their house, and as usual with KS2 Sport’s Day the children are welcome to wear their house’s colour t-shirt and/or jumper alongside their usual PE shorts/trousers and trainers. (Caradoc – blue, Grinshill – green, Haughmond, red, Wrekin – yellow.)

If you would like to cheer the children on, gates will open for parents/supporters at 9:10am and the children will aim to start at 9:30am.

Maths Books for Home

We have some surplus maths books in school. Over the next few weeks the children will be bringing them home to keep. They are an excellent opportunity to revisit the learning in school and something to keep them busy on all these rainy days we are having!

They do not need to be returned to school.

Happy Friday!

This week we’ve been looking at informal letters in our writing sessions. The children have been working on using questions and apostrophes for contractions (e.g can’t), in their writing. In Maths, we’ve been looking at multiplication and division.

The children enjoyed making switches in our science lesson. We talked about the job of a switch and used one in our circuits. In design and technology, we’ve looked at attachment techniques ready to help us design our bridges.

Our Golden Certificate winner this week is Reggie. He’s been trying really hard and making good choices. Well done!

We hope you have a great weekend.

Happy Friday!

This week, we’ve been looking at setting descriptions in our writing sessions. After analysing an example text, we looked at fronted adverbials and relative clauses. We also went over using descriptive language and expanded noun phrases, before writing our setting descriptions today. The children also loved trying to include our word of the week ‘plethora’ into our writing.

In maths, we’ve started our unit on time. Today we looked at analogue and digital time and AM and PM. I wonder if the children can show you what they’ve learnt by looking at any clocks you have at home, or when out and about over the weekend.

We’ve also been looking at insulators and conductors in science and the importance of good hygiene in PSHE.

Our Golden Certificate winner this week is Anya. She’s been eager to learn, working hard and contributing well to class discussions. Well done, Anya!

We hope you have a lovely long weekend.

Good afternoon,

In our writing session this week, the children have been finishing writing their character description. They have written a character description on Ariki and Ipo from our class book.

Our Golden Certificate winner this week is Betsy. She wrote a fantastic character description using fronted adverbials, emotive sentences and expanded noun phrases. Well done!

In maths we’ve started our unit on money. We’ve been writing money using decimals, converting between pounds and pence, comparing amounts, estimating and calculating with money.

This afternoon, the children had some fantastic ideas on what they thought Jesus would want the world to be like.

We hope you have a great weekend.
