Oak Class Weekly Newsletter 31.3.23

Wow, another term has come to an end. It’s crazy to think there is only 1 more term to go in Year 5!

This week, the children have worked so hard to make sure everything is completed before we broke up. In Maths, we have managed to squeeze in our remaining Maths topic on ‘Perimeter and Area’, and have been praised by Mr Bates for their amazing efforts through the week. We would just like to see them apply this knowledge when it comes to test situations. In English, we have written our speeches on why we, as individuals, should be voted to be King or Queen of our medieval village.

No spellings over the Easter break because I would like everyone to focus on reading as much as possible. We have had discussions and a visit from Mrs Dowell to explain the benefits and importance of reading. I would like to see the momentum continue for this last term in Year 5. Mathletics is available to access for any extra Maths practice too, or to catch up on any missed.

Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Issy. She has been a great helping hand for both Miss Hipkiss and her peers. She continues to be a great role model of behaviour and attitude to learning in Year 5. She has taken home the Oak Class Diary for the holidays. Well Done Issy!

Have an EGG-CELENT Easter break!

Another week has come to an end!

We have had a great week in Oak Class.

In Literacy, we have continued looking at the different features of explanation texts. This week we have focused on colons and relative clauses.

In Maths, we have just come to the end of our fractions unit with some very impressive scores. We will now begin a short unit on Statistics next week.

Our Golden certificate winner this week is Kayden! He has been making a conscious effort to improve his handwriting, and hence has improved in his spellings! Great work, well done! He will take home the Oak Class Diary this week.

Unfortunately, next week is our last week for our Read The Game programme.

Have a great weekend!
