Winter Safety
Given the tragic events at the weekend and the forecasted continued colder weather as we head into the Christmas holidays, we at Shropshire Fire and Rescue would like to highlight the attached resource and website.
I have attached the winter water safety poster from the Royal Life Saving Society. More information can be found at https://www.rlss.org.uk/winter-water-safety

Christmas Fayre
On behalf of everyone at school we would like to say a big thank you to the Friends of Crowmoor for organising and hosting the school fayre on Friday. It was a fantastic event and we appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into organising it.
It was great to see so many families there supporting the event.
Thank you all.

Good afternoon,
This week we have continued to explore how to describe a character, thinking about how they would speak and respond to questions and how they would react in different situations. The children have been very creative and built up some interesting characters. Our Golden Certificate goes to one child who has done this particularly well, and has improved her presentation – congratulations Mia.
In maths, we have come to the end of our unit on fractions. The children have understood the processes well but need to spend some time learning their times tables, so the become fluent. In science, we have been discussing diet and how our diet impacts how we feel and what our body is able to achieve.
I have been really impressed with how focused the children have been in computing, we have been able to program more components and have explored ‘if’ and ‘until’ in our sequence of code.
Please keep up the daily reading, it has shot up this week and it would be great to keep this going.
Have a great weekend,
Mr Reynolds

Another week has flown by and only one more now until the Christmas holidays!
We have had a lovely week this week reading and retelling the story of The Gingerbread Man in Drawing Club and the children thoroughly enjoyed following the recipe to make them on Wednesday. Some of the children decorated them as gingerbread men and others chose to turn them upside down and decorate them as reindeer instead! I’m sure they were all just as yummy either way! 🙂
In maths we have been consolidating our knowledge of number facts to 5 and also learning about using language related to time. We have been talking about morning and afternoon, day and night and also understanding yesterday, today, tomorrow and identifying the correct day of the week.
Next week we will be doing PE on TUESDAY so children are to come to school in their PE kits on TUESDAY NOT FRIDAY please. In the new term our PE will be on MONDAYS starting 9th January until February half term. Children should attend school wearing their PE kits on Mondays only and should be wearing school uniform all other days. Just a reminder that school PE kit is dark blue or black jogging bottoms (or shorts), a plain white t-shirt and a dark blue or black hoodie or they can just wear their school jumpers.
Please ensure children continue to read as much as possible and that you record each time in their yellow reading records. Children who read at least 5 times per week will be able to choose a special prize from my lucky dip box. Book bags should be in school every day but especially TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS when phonics books are changed. Children are welcome to change their free choice book whenever they wish.
As this cold snap continues, please ensure children have a warm coat to wear and hats gloves and scarfs are also recommended.
Next week we have lots to look forward to, with the Christmas sing song at the church, Christmas dinner AND Disco all on Wednesday 14th and we will be having a little Christmassy celebration in our class on the last day too (Friday 16th).
Have a lovely weekend.

You must all be so incredibly proud of your children, they did an absolutely fantastic job performing ‘Santa’s Setbacks’. We could not have done it without your support with learning lines and providing costumes. Well done everybody.
We are still completing assessments and next week we will finish our story books in between all the Christmas activities which are planned. Wednesday will be a busy day with a trip to the church, Christmas Dinner and an afternoon of Discos!
The children are confident retelling the story of Christmas and have been thinking about what they are thankful for. They have also been learning how other countries celebrate Christmas. Did you know, that in Australia, Santa’s sleigh is pulled by six white kangaroos? The reindeers cannot cope with the heat of the Australian summer!
Enjoy your weekend and please try to fit in some reading time. every little helps!
