Willow – 4.3.22
Good afternoon,
We have had a mixture of week: starting our new topic in English on Newspapers, focusing on formal versus informal language and headings; coming to the end of our algebra topic; continuing to investigate Space and having World Book Day yesterday.
This week you should have all received a letter in regards to a parent/career meeting, it is on Monday and Tuesday next week. The meeting will be set up through the child in Willow class email account, so you will need to log in through them (they know how to log on and get on to teams).
Please keep up the reading at home, it does really show in their English work and mathematical reasoning.
*On Monday 7th March – children will need to wear their P.E. kit.
Hope you all have a good weekend,
Mr Reynolds
Willow – Spellings – 4.3.22
This week we are looking at synonyms:
Willow – 11.2.22
Good afternoon,
I am really impressed with some of the writing the children have produced this week. They have really taken to persuasive writing, filling it with a range of features and punctuation. As well as working hard in English, their maths work has been very good, we concluded our percentage work today, ready to move on to algebra.
The children have enjoyed talking about Internet Safety Day, our class made ‘fake news posters’ which were shared across the school. In science, we continued to explore light and in geography we have looked at seasons.
Please keep up the daily reading at home,
Mr Reynolds
Willow – Spellings – 11.2.22
This week we are looking at Year 6 Common Words.
Willow – 4.2.22
Good afternoon,
This week we started our percentage topic in maths, thinking about how we can use our decimal and fractions to help us. In English, we have continued to explore our persuasive techniques and concluded the week with a debate.
In science we explored the light spectrum, investigating the types of light and wave lengths. We have also explored phases of the moon, thinking about how it orbits the Earth.
Please keep up the daily reading,
Mr Reynolds
Willow – 28.1.22
Good afternoon,
We have had a very persuasive week in English, as we have started our persuasive speech. The children have had some great ideas and are creating some convincing explanations. In maths, we have come to an end of our decimal unit and will move on to percentages next week.
In science we looked at refraction and how objects appear to change in water. For geography, we explored night and day around the world, by looking at time zones.
Please keep up the reading at home and have a great weekend,
Mr Reynolds
Willow – Spellings – 28.1.22
This week we are looking at hyphens.
Willow – 21.1.22
Good afternoon,
We had a great start to the week, with a trip to Shrewsbury Abbey for a Christingle Service. The children were very well behaved and really enjoyed the experience.
We have come to the end of our English topic on persuasive letters, and have started a new topic in maths on decimals. The children have been well focused and wanting to show what they can do.
Across the rest of our curriculum, we have been exploring shading in art. In topic we have been exploring night and day. For computing, we have started exploring ownership and use of images on the internet.
Please remember:
- P.E. is on Wednesday and Friday
- Daily reading is really important and should be recorded in their reading records
- If a child is isolating there is work on ‘Willow information’ page
Hope you all have a good weekend,
Mr Reynolds
