We’ve had a super week reading the story ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ by Judith Kerr. In Drawing Club the children drew the tiger, the café where they had their supper and also what they thought the tiger would eat if he had joined them. They also created their own party invites. Next week we will continue to use this story for Drawing Club and to write shopping lists as it would appear that the tiger has eaten all the food in our Far Far Away kitchen!
In phonics we have completed our final week of level 4, consolidating the children’s knowledge of level 3 sounds, recognising them in words and reading more fluently by sounding out silently (in their heads). Next week we will continue with consolidation and assessments.
In Maths we have spent the week recapping our number bonds to 5 and the relevant subtraction facts, learning that if we know 4+1=5, then we know 5-1=4 and 5-4=1. The children have also explored this with number bonds for other numbers up to 10. They have recapped comparing numbers (amounts and numerals) as well as halving, sharing into equal groups and spotting number patterns such as odds and evens.
We have been talking about what living things need to grow and what might happen if they don’t get what they need. The children have enjoyed seeing the seeds they planted before half term beginning to grow shoots and leaves and were keen to plant some more this week.
Next week we have class photos on Tuesday 13th June. You will also be receiving an invite from the children to join them at an event on Thursday 6th July at 10.15am for an hour so please add the date to your diaries and look out for your invite next week. If you are unable to attend another familiar adult is welcome to join on your behalf. If you have any queries, please email beech@crowmoorschool.co.uk
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
