Happy Friday everyone!
A very busy week in Beech class this week.
In phonics we have learnt the new phonemes: h, b, f and l.
The children are all trying so hard with the sounds and I am very impressed. Please encourage your children to recognise sounds in words around the house.
Maths has seen us explore patterns. We have used the compare bears and the beads to make and copy patterns and then to see how amazing they were they all had a go at an independent finger painting pattern. Very impressed! We also looked at clapping patterns and dance patterns.
Our book this week has been Jack and the beanstalk, the children had great fun building a new castle for the ogre out of junk modelling and looking at the life cycle of a beanstalk. Many of them were pleased to tell me that the beanstalks we planted together in the summer are growing.
Over the past week we have introduced “play doh disco” to our weekly timetable. This encourages fine motor skills and muscle strength in the hands to help develop pencil grip and control. The children have loved it.
All children have received a letter about the “brilliant brushes” tooth brushing scheme. Can I please ask you complete the green consent form and return it ASAP, as we would love to start this in class.
Parents evening letters have gone out this week. I have had lots returned already and the early appointments are going fast. Can I encourage you to return the letter early next week to determine your time.
Can I please remind you that PE is on a Friday. The children need to be in black or navy blue bottoms, a white top and a navy or black jumper/hoody. Thank you.
Well done to Gracie T who is the golden certificate winner this week. She has worked to hard in her writing and is really engaging in the phonics work in class. Keep up the hard work Gracie!
Have a lovely weekend everyone! Let’s hope it stops raining! See you next week.
