Hello everyone – happy Friday!
We have had a lovely week in Beech class. The children are really settling into the routines and know what is going on during the school day.
We have learnt the following graphemes and phonemes:
e – elephant
u – umbrella
r – rainbow
Please encourage children to sound out words at home.
The children all have a reading book and a reading diary in their book bags. If it is a “decodable book” the children will be able to read it to you. If it is wordless encourage your child to talk about the pictures in the book. Please note down any time you read with your child in the reading diary – it really does make a difference.
In Maths, we have been looking at bigger, smaller, taller, shorter, heavy, light, full and empty. We have had great fun measuring things and finding out what things in the classroom weigh more. All of the children had great fun telling Mrs Kenny she was shorter than Miss Shadbolt and Mrs Millichamp!!! We all enjoyed the water based activities looking at different containers being full, half full/empty and empty
Gentle reminder – can earrings be taken out before school on a Friday please, this will ensure they don’t get lost. They can’t be taped over and in-line with school policy and the guidance from the PE Association they need to be removed for safety. Can all jumpers and cardigans please have their names written in? We are getting lots of them muddled up – thank you.
Well done to Mikey who is our golden certificate winner. Mikey has really tried his best across the week, with a great attitude to learning. He has also really tried in phonics and English and has been practising “crocodile fingers” for his pencil grip. Well done Mikey! Very proud :)!
Enjoy your weekend.
See you bright and early on Monday.
Miss Shadbolt, Mrs Kenny and Mrs Millichamp.
