Willow Newsletter w/c 10.05.21

Posted on 14th May 2021 by Hardy Wilmot

It’s been a busy week. We completed our Quest writing and will move onto another genre next week. We also started a new maths topic: Measures. We learnt a little more about the function of the ciriculatory system and we had our third session with Mel. This week we discussed how we can listen and support people who might need a little reasurrance or for when people feel that their stress bucket is getting a little full. This is particularly relevent with COVID and the transition to Secondary and our forthcoming trip to Arthog.

I managed to speak to most of you in the Parent’s Consulations on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and evening and enjoyed telling you about the progress your child is making. If I didn’t manage to speak to you please email me on the class email and I will respond as soon as I can.

I attach the topic page that helps inform of the subjects I hope to cover this term and next. It is subject to change but, if I can, I will cover all the areas I have added. Your children have a copy of this in their Crowmoor Curriculum book for reference.

Y6 Mexican Topic Web Summer 2021

I asked the children to bring their homework booklets into school. Most were happy to and they were able to show me the work they have completed. Some children haven’t handed thier homework in yet. When the children progress to Secondary they will receive about 2/3 peices each day and they will be responsible for completing it to the required standard and in the time allocated. Homework in Y6 is in preparation to the oncoming barrage of homework they will get in September and the work set will only progress them personally. In Y6, it is expected that the children take some ownership of their learning and I see the completion of their homework as a personal target and opportunity to help their learning. Some children might have returned home with a Golden GoGo – this was a prize for particularly impressing me with the homework completion and their attention to detail.

Have a super weekend; not long until Arthog – I am in the process of making sure I have everything on the kit list… it is quite extensive.
