Another week has flown by with another super week of Drawing Club. This week our story was The Magic Porridge Pot and the children have been learning words such as enchanted, endless, despair, cease, steaming and gloopy. They have been drawing their own wizards, places he could live, magic potions, and wizard shops.
In phonics we have learnt the next four sounds and have been working really hard on blending to read. The children have brought home the information sheets and should have their sound bags with their sound cards in so they can practice their sounds as they learn them. Please ensure these sound cards are in their bags every day to be added to and also practise at school.
In maths we have been working on copying continuing and creating repeating patterns with lots of different resources in school as well as natural resources from outside. Here is a link to one of the games we have been playing in class: Pattern game
The children have also enjoyed exploring our mud kitchen and the music shed and have been performing songs to their friends on our outdoor stage.
Letters went home this week about parent consultation meetings on the 17th and 18th October. If you have not returned the slip on the reverse of the letter to arrange an appointment yet, please do so as soon as possible or contact me on the class email beech@crowmoorschool.co.uk, thank you.
There is also a note from me about some phonics sessions I have arranged. It would be great to have as many people come as possible to see how we learn to read in Reception, especially as we now use a scheme for Phonics which means there are some slight changes to how it has been done previously. I appreciate it is not always possible to come into school at relatively short notice so please if you can’t make the suggested dates and times please let me know if there is a time/day more convenient and I will try to arrange further sessions on those days if I can.
Have a lovely weekend.
