Good afternoon,

We have had another busy week in year 6. The children have continued to plan their theme parks and work out the costs and hopefully the profit. We have rehearsed our production a few times; please keep encouraging the children to practise at home and make sure they are speaking loudly.

One child who has done particularly well in these two areas this week and is our Golden Certificate Winner is Ryan – congratulations.

We have also adventured more into our coding unit using microbits; this week some children have managed to create step counters. In art the children have pulled all of their painting skills into one final piece.

I hope the children who have their move up days next week have a great time and I look forward to hearing about it on their return.

Good afternoon,

What a week we have had. I have been very impressed with the children’s attitudes especially as lots are tired after Arthog. In maths we have started to design and cost our own theme park; the children have had some interesting ideas as to the amount of people and the facilities that may be required.

Sport’s Day was a lot of fun, thank you for showing your support and also taking part in the egg and spoon race. The children really helped with organisation of their house and ensuring all the children were in the correct place and the right time.

One child who has done particularly well this week and has been noticed by other members of staff for her helpful attitude and is this week’s Golden Certificate Winner is Issy – congratulations.

Next week we will also have PE on Monday 24th June, please remind the children to wear their PE clothing.

We have had a rather busy week in Willow Class getting everything back under way for the second part of the Summer Term.

We have continued reading our book ‘Who let the Gods out’ by Maz Evans, in English we have written diary entries based on one of the main characters we have come across. In maths we have been revisiting measurements and checking our understanding. One child who has settled into the day and their lessons quickly this week and is our Golden Certificate Winner is Harley – congratulations.

We have lots of exciting events coming up this half term starting with two trips next week. On Monday we are going to Crucial Crew, please ensure the children bring a coat, their packed lunch and that they arrive promptly. On Friday we we are off to Arthog, children need to arrive at school at the usual time but come up through the office rather than across the playground and incase any have got lost, the kit list is on Teams.

What a week it has been! I am so impressed with the children’s attitudes towards the test this week, they have all tried very hard and definitely deserve a relaxing weekend.

Aside from SATs we have began our investigation in to Olympics over 2000 years ago in history; in computing the children have created some fantastic 3-D structures and in R.E. we have looked at beliefs and how they are interpreted.

One person who has tried very hard everyday this week and has continued their enthusiasm, which has been noticed by different members of staff, is this week’s Golden Certificate winner is Jack – congratulations.

Good afternoon.

This week in year six we have been looking again at ‘The piano’ short film. However, this time we have been looking at writing a letter from one of the main character’s loved ones to him, showing the range of emotion that would be on show as well as delving deep into some memories. One child who has done particularly well and is this week’s Golden Certificate winner is George – congratulations.

In history, we’ve had a debate as to who was better, the ancient Spartans or the ancient Athenians, it was a very well contested debate with some very good points and questions being raised by both teams.

Next week is the year 6 SATs, it is great to see that lots of the children will be joining us at 8:20am for breakfast and a chat/ settle into the day before start. The children do not need to bring in anything special, just what they would normally for a school day. We provide everything else that the child will need. Please ensure your child is in school promptly – either at 8:20am for breakfast (if they have signed up) or at 8:40am at the usual time. The children do not have any spellings to practice ready for next week because of all the testing going on. However, please do encourage them to look through their booklets.

Good afternoon,

We have had a busy week this week, with the children working very hard and really testing their understanding, particularly in maths. We have been looking at shape and the need to be accurate whilst drawing them. In English we have studied a short clip called ‘The Piano’, the children have been writing flashbacks based on this and have really understood the emotion behind the main character. One child who has particularly focused well this week and tried very hard and is our Golden Certificate winner is Jess – congratulations.

In computing the children have really got to grips with 3D design and produced some very impressive looking and practical designs for a new pencil case. We continued our study of Europe in geography and have begun to look at the differences in ancient Athens and ancient Sparta in History.
