What a lovely but VERY busy week we have had. My apologies for the lack of newsletter last week, we were having connectivity issues and the previous week I was unfortunately off.
This week we have been celebrating Friendship Week by sharing some lovely stories about friends, thinking of ways to be especially kind, as well as how we can REACH OUT to someone if they need a friend and we have also created a door collage as part of the whole school initiative:

The children all drew their pictures of themselves and the clouds all contain their ideas about what good friends do.
We have now learnt all the sounds in Level 2 for phonics and have spent the week recapping them, practising writing the sounds, reading words and short sentences. It is really important that the children practice reading their sounds every day and read their books as much as possible. Next week we will be carrying out some assessments to see which sounds or skills they still need to work on.
In Drawing Club last week we watched Pink Panther. The children found it hilarious and were really good at talking about what happened even though there was no speech. This week we read Rosie’s Walk by the wonderful Pat Hutchins and learnt words such as clatter, scarper, creeping, covered, immersed and oblivious. I’m always amazed how quickly the children pick up the vocabulary and love to hear them using it in their play independently. 😊
In maths we have met number 5 and have been looking at the composition of 5 as well as the other numbers. We have been learning to follow the three rules to count accurately and how to subitise 5 (recognise it without counting.)
We have had a super day today for Children in Need and everyone looked fabulous. We’ve put our class photo on Tapestry for you all to see.
I’m sure the children have already told you about our nativity and their role in it. We have started practising and will continue to do so next week. The dates have been on the website for a while but if you’ve not seen, it will be an afternoon performance on Thursday 1st December and a morning performance on Friday 2nd December. Letters will be coming out soon with details of times and tickets. Please DO NOT worry about buying outfits. We already have plenty of outfits in school so the children will only need something to wear under them. They have come home with a letter tonight detailing their role and what they will need.
Thank you to everyone who has returned the information about parent/grandparents childhoods. It is most appreciated and really useful for the children to find out about. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend.
