Well here we are almost at the end of November and our first Nativity performance is less than a week away! Despite our mid-week electrics blip we have had a super week reading the traditional story Chicken Licken in Drawing Club between practising our songs and lines for Nativity too.
We have also been practicing reading simple words and sentences in phonics whilst we continue to complete assessments as many children are still lacking the confidence to blend independently. It’s really important they practice their sound cards and read their phonics regularly so they become confident to sound out and blend the words. The more they read their books the more they will begin to recognise familiar words and will re-read short sentences fluently.
In maths we have been learning about number bonds with the Numberblocks through the episode The Whole of Me where they sing a song about their parts and the whole number. The children have really engaged with this and used the singing strategy as we have tried to embed and recall the bonds for 2,3,4 and 5 over the week.
We have also been making some super decorations for the school Christmas tree.
See if you can spot them next week when you are in to watch the performances.
Thanks again for all the information returned about parents, grandparents etc. We have been sharing them this week comparing things now and then and I’m hoping to incorporate some old favourite stories and animations to Drawing Club next term for the children to experience.
Please remember to return the slips for the performances so we know how many to expect for each performance. We look forward to seeing you then.
If you have any questions about any of the above, please let me know via the class email beech@crowmoorschool.co.uk or catch me on the playground at the end of the day.
Have a lovely weekend.
