Thank you to all the parents who attended one of the three Phonics sessions before half term. Unfortunately, there were no attendees for Wednesday afternoon’s fourth session, so for those of you who have been unable to attend, I am sending home the packs that were given out (please remove these from your child’s bag) and have shared the PowerPoint shown during the session here: Beech Class Information at the bottom of the page under the Curriculum Planning information.
Just a reminder that children bring home small sound cards and tricky word cards that we have learnt each week and benefit greatly from a few minutes practice every day. Although we do learn letter names as we learn each sound, it is the SOUND each letter makes that the children need to read. The sound cards can be combined to make simple two and three letter words to help them practice blending to read, especially if they are finding reading their phonics book a little tricky. Phonics books should be read at LEAST twice and will be changed after the second recorded read in their yellow reading record.
If you have any queries about Phonics or reading please let me know via the class email address beech@crowmoorschool.co.uk
