The term is in full flow now and we are cracking on with our new topics. We looked at myths and quests in Literacy and the conventions of a good story. We will develop this next week when the children write their own quest adventures. In maths we have moved on from fractions and are now studying geometry, specifically reading coordinates in single and multiple quadrants. Again we will develop this work next work by look at translating shapes within grids. In Science we learnt about the components of our blood. We started a booster session in Maths – we will carry on with this next week and I have already scheduled an afternoon to look at a previous literacy reading paper. Your children now have their booster books, these will form the basis of their homework – as always I would appreciate your assistance in making sure they complete set work by Friday; this allows us chance to mark it together and address any areas that arise. The children are enjoying their reading and most have taken a quiz (or more!) on the Accelerated Reading package – this is very encouraging. I plan for the children to take another reading test next week to see if we can progress their ZPD (Reading Spectrum) score. I will also endeavour to add the term topic content web to this area of the website shortly. Have a great weekend.
