Hello everyone!
This week, we have been focusing on writing in a persuasive manner in Literacy. We have been looking at using persuasive language, apostrophes for contraction and possession and also using expanded noun phrases. I have been very impressed by the work that the children have done this week. They have tried really hard to implement their individual writing targets in to their work too.
In Maths, we have started our unit on fractions. This week, we have been looking at what is a fraction, equivalent fractions and fractions which have a greater value than 1. It has been a bit tricky to try remember all of the new knowledge but the children are coping well!
As part of our creative curriculum, we have been comparing houses from the Stone Age to today’s houses. We looked at typical houses from the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic eras and discussed how they might have been built and what they would have looked like. We have also been discussing our responsibilities and how our responsibilities change as we get older. This has been part of our ‘Knowing our Rights and Responsibilities’ unit in PSHCE.
Next week is the final week of the half term. We finish on Friday 14th February at the usual time. Spellings and homework will be given out (as normal) and children need to try and read at least three times per week. I have also reminded the children of the website which is handy for practicing their times tables (they have the website address in their reading records).
Have a lovely weekend!
