Sycamore Newsletter – 4th September 2020

Posted on 4th September 2020 by Mrs Brunyard

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Sycamore Class! We hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer break. It has been good to see the children getting back in the swing of things in school – they’ve adapted brilliantly to the new procedures and habits in school.

This week, we have been thinking about our Class Charter and working out what we can remember from the last time the children were last back in the classroom!

As they did in Year 3, the children have PE on Thursday afternoons. They will need to have clothing for both indoor and outdoor PE as the weather becomes colder and wetter. They will need to arrive to school in their PE kits on Thursdays. Children also need to make sure that they take their earrings out before they do PE. This is for their safety during those lessons. Children are very welcome to have their water bottles in class – we encourage them to drink as much water as possible throughout the day. We would also like the children to bring in their reading books each day. Due to current procedures, we will be changing reading books on a Tuesday only. We know that this is not ideal but we hope that children will have enough time to read their new book and, if they choose, can read a book from home as well. Homework takes shape in the form of the project sheets which are similar to those from last year. This will be checked each Friday. The children will also be given spellings and will be tested on those on a Friday.

I think that you children have settled in very well so far considering the vast amount of time they have had away from school. It has been fantastic meeting them all and I am sure that we will have a great year this year!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
