November 2022…

CROWMOOR SCHOOL CERT 2022

June 2022…..

We were lucky enough to take some members of Years 3 and 4 to Shropshire Sings this month. The children spent the afternoon practicing on the stage before their evening performance. There were lots of other schools there too and the sun was shining! It was a lovely evening. Also enjoyed by Miss Allison, Miss Bliss and Mrs Davies. See some of our fab pictures of the event below!

May 2022…..

On Friday 27th May we held our Jubilee Picnic in school. Each class dressed up from a different decade of the Queen’s reign. They also learned a song from their decade and performed it at the picnic! We had lots of sunshine and lots of laughs!

Mr and Mrs Byrne said: “We just wanted to say thank you so much for organising the Jubilee event today for the school. It was wonderful to see everyone back together, celebrating. This is something the children will remember forever.”

The children also made some fantastic art work which we have displayed down our corridor. What a fantastic day we had celebrating our Queen!

Crowmoor was very pleased to have our latest hedge plabting scheme recognised as our contribution towards the Queen’s Green Canopy in honour of her Platinum Jubilee Year.

At Crowmoor we seek to create as many and varied opportunities for our pupils to succeed at and experience traditional and historic sports. A favourite annual competition is the Crowmoor Conker Festival.Seen below are the 2021 and 2020 Champions.

December 2021……

The children have worked hard to produce two hundred Christmas cards with messages inside for the senior citizens in the local area. We have worked together with Shrewsbury Town in the Community to produce these Christmas cards. The children have all thoroughly enjoyed this! We hope the receivers of these cards enjoy receiving them as much as we enjoyed making them!

  • Year 6 Bikeability – October 2020

Well done to all the Year 6’s that took part in the two day Bikeability course. Everyone had a great time learning about road safety and the children have learned some really important safety skills that they can put into use while out and about on their bikes.

  • Saturday 7th March 2020… A dancing day on the pitch!

On Saturday we took a group of sixty pupils to watch Shrewsbury Town v Oxford. During Half Time these pupils performed a dance to ‘Higher Love by Kygo & Whitney Houston’ This dance has been taught to all our KS2 pupils by our Shrewsbury Town coaches. Children were wearing sponsored t shirts which were kindly sponsored by our uniform provider Decostitch.

The children were absolutely fab and a real credit to Crowmoor. A special thanks to the children who took part. The parents and carers who were able to accompany their children. Shrewsbury Town in the Community for this amazing opportunity and Decostitch for our fabulous t shirts.

Well done all!

  • Tree Planting in the School Grounds………….

The School’s Eco Schools Group have been busy planting trees, despite the weather, to improve the outdoor environment and encourage wildlife. Crowmoor has worked in partnership with the Woodland Trust environmental charity for the last five years to plant hundreds of trees and many metres of hedgerow. Every pupil in the school has been given an opportunity to plant a tree over the last two years, to make their contribution to offset carbon production. The Eco Schools Group meets every Friday with the support of Mrs Carroll-Lewis, the Eco-Schools Champion.

  • Operation Christmas Child Gift Box Donations……….

A big thank you to everyone who donated to this very worthwhile cause. The shoe boxes were all collected on Tuesday by volunteers from the Samaritans Purse.

  • Children In Need……..

On Friday 15th November the children came to School wearing bright clothes in return for a donation to this year’s Children In Need Appeal. There were some great outfits and everyone had great fun!

The Friend’s of Crowmoor sold hot dogs and cakes on the playground after School to raise funds too.

  • Live Music week…..

On Monday 4th November we had a visit from Shropshire Music Service’s Soul Band.

They played for the whole school and we all had a great time, singing along, clapping and dancing.  As well as having a lot of fun, the group told us about the music and used games and activities to demonstrate musical elements such as harmony, tempo, dynamics, texture, timbre and pitch.

It was fantastic to hear such quality live music in our school.

  • Remembrance Day Assembly……

On Thursday 7th November, Dave from The Royal British Legion, came in to take a Whole School Assembly about the meaning and importance of Remembrance Day.

  • Harvest Festival………..

A huge “thank you” to everyone who attended our School Harvest Festival Service at The Baptist Church just before October Half Term. The food that was donated has been delivered to the Food Bank and the cash collection has been send to The Shrewsbury Ark.

  • Gerald the Giraffe…..

We received a delivery of Gerald our bottle top Giraffe from the Britsh Ironworks Centre. In school we all worked together to collect as many bottle tops as possible to feed into Gerald! We had sooooooo many they didn’t all fit into Gerald!

We are now putting our heads together to come up with a piece of artwork we can make in school to celebrate our success with the recycled bottle tops! We will update you soon!
