Hello everyone,
This week in in English, we have been looking at different types of punctuation, exploring when to use inverted commas and exclamation marks. We have found examples of inverted commas and exclamation marks in our guided reading book and have created our own sentences involving the these.
In Maths, we have continued learning about fractions. This week we understood how to count forwards and backwards on a fractions number line. We also have found equivalent non-unit fractions using a number line. The children also made their own fraction robots by learning how to fold different shapes into halves, thirds and quarters.
In Geography we have looked more closely into evaporation and began an investigation to see how water evaporates over time. We started this by filling bags of water and drawing a line where the water started and seeing how it goes down throughout the term.
Our Science topic this term is Rock and Soil. This involved the pupils investigating which types of rocks are permeable and impermeable by submerging them into water. We also investigated whether the rocks were hard or soft by conducting a scratch test.
Have a lovely weekend, stay safe,
Miss Bliss, Mrs Martin and Miss Aldridge
