The children are continuing to work hard with their swimming and it’s been great to see their confidence in the water grow. The weeks have been flying by, and it’s our last week of swimming next Friday.
In English, we’ve started our new unit, Explanation texts. We’ve been looking at examples and features of explanation texts and using conjunctions.
In Maths, we’ve been looking at division. The children have been dividing a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number with and without remainders, and dividing a 3 digit number by a 1 digit number.
The children had a fantastic afternoon creating puppets and puppet theatres to perform the poem ‘Caterpillar’ by Christine Rossetti using shadow puppets.
Our certificate winner this week is Darcey. She is a great member of our class and takes an active role in our class discussions, where her contributions are well thought out.
We hope you have a nice weekend.

It’s been an exciting week with the weather and having some snow. The children were thrilled when it starting snowing at break yesterday, even though it was only briefly. Despite the weather being cold, the children have still been taking off jumpers and cardigans, and we have had several left in class. Please can you ensure your child’s clothing is named, so any that have been misplaced can be returned.
In Literacy, we’ve been planning and writing our instructions to make an Egyptian Scarab Beetle. We’ve been talking about features such as; numbered steps, heading and subheadings, imperative verbs and technical vocabulary.
In Maths, we’ve been looking at key facts about the relationship between multiplication and division, methods for multiplication and multiplying a 2 and 3 digit number by a 1 digit number.
In RE, we’ve been talking about how Hindus show their faith. The children enjoyed using the iPads to try to research to find out more information.
We’ve been talking about the Rights of the Child and Human Rights and how they are universal and can’t be taken away.
This week, our Golden Certificate winner is Gian who has been eager to help others and shown he is a good friend. Well done, Gian.
We hope you have a great weekend.

A huge well done to all the children for trying hard in swimming today. The children are thoroughly enjoying our lessons and all giving it a good go. Well done.
In Literacy, we’ve been looking at the features of instructions. We have been finding features in an example text and looking at imperative verbs and headings and subheadings. Yesterday, the children tried to find headings and subheadings in our non-fiction books.
In Maths, we’ve been multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.
The children really enjoyed using pencils to sketch an insect in Art, and we have finished painting our scarab beetles that we made last week out of salt dough.
Our certificate winner this week is Mariana for her fantastic art work. Well done.
We hope you have a great weekend.
