Year 4 Spring Remote Learning using Oak Academy
I will be in contact soon, but wanted to give you the chance to get going,
Mr Reynolds
Good afternoon,
We have had a very enjoyable last week of term with everything relating to Christmas. In English, we created our own Christmassy story in either a book or comic strip form. There have been some lovely bits of description and some great drawings to go along with these.
In maths, we have recapped our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, using these to figure out pictures and decode answers to Christmas jokes.
During our Spring Term we will begin our new topic ‘Tomb Raiders’, learning all about the Ancient Egyptians. The children will be given a new homework project sheet when they come back to school. This will be linked to our new topic and our learning in class. Thank you for all of your involvement in their homework this term- we really do appreciate it.
The children have worked hard this term and so I wish them all a good, restful and fun Christmas break.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Mr Reynolds and Mrs Martin
Good afternoon,
The children have worked really hard this week, trying their best in their assessments and have produced some great pieces of writing.
In Topic we have looked at Tudor houses; how they were made and also had a go at designing our own.
We ended the week in a festive fashion, starting yesterday when we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Father Christmas. Today we had our Christmas lunch and recorded message from Open the Book.
Hope you all have a safe weekend,
Mr Reynolds and Mrs Martin
Good afternoon,
We have had another fun week, developing our poetry skills, which we finished by writing and performing our own poems.
In maths, we have finished looking at multiplication and division, by looking at the 9 and 7 times tables.
In topic this week we looked Tudor clothing and draw portraits of ourselves with as if we were Tudors.
Please remember that one of the measures in place at the moment, to help keep everyone safe, is that children are to use the clear school bags provided.
Have a fun weekend,
Mr Reynolds and Mrs Martin
Hello everyone,
What a first week I have had in Sycamore class. I have really enjoyed getting to know your children and they have produced some great pieces of work.
This week in Literacy we have started our poetry unit of learning. We have been looking at the poem ‘The sound collector’ by Rodger McGough, which the children have really enjoyed. We have been looking at the features and focusing on our performance skills.
In maths we have been continuing our multiplication unit. This week we have been focusing on our 3x and 6x times tables, looking at different methods to help us get a secure understanding.
As part of our Tudor topic, we have been looking at the Tudor crime and punishment. It has been great to see the children’s enthusiasm, they even have had a go at creating their own punishments. Why not ask them to tell you some of the interesting facts we have been learning about!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mr Reynolds and Mrs Martin
