We come to the end of another half term! I think all the children will be sad to not be studying the Titanic anymore, but we have some interesting topics coming up in next half term.
In English, we have just written letters as survivors of the Titanic sinking. The children have worked extremely hard to use their knowledge of our class reading book and information we have learnt about in our History lessons. I look forward to reading them over half term!
In Maths, we have finished our unit on Fractions. I have set more Mathletics for the children to complete over the week off, to ensure they are ready for our topics when we come back.
On Friday, the children came to school in their own clothes to celebrate Mental Health Week.
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Harrison. He has shown fantastic engagement throughout our Titanic topic; researching facts at home and using these in his writing and towards class discussions. Well Done!
Have a great half term!

In English this week, we have continued developing our knowledge of the Titanic by writing a balanced argument for ‘who’s to blame for the Titanic sinking?’. The children have thoroughly enjoyed this topic, and it has been a delight to see them so engaged in a topic and using their historical knowledge.
In Maths, we have started our new unit on fractions. The children have been multiplying fractions by integers and calculating fractions of an amount. They have worked super hard after not originally understanding the concept, and are now confident in doing this, sometimes mentally!
During Geography this week, the children have investigated the different ways mountains are formed. We discussed the movement of the tectonic plates and what this can cause: a mountain, volcano or even an earthquake!
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Ethan! He has shown OUTSTANDING efforts this week. He has worked extremely hard to master finding fractions of amounts, is reading regularly and has even tried teaching his Mum multiplication column method at home! Well done Ethan!
There is Mathletics and Spag online to do at home.
Have a great weekend!

In English this week, we have used our knowledge of the Titanic and written a newspaper report on the launch of the Titanic in 1911. The children have done really well in considering the features of a newspaper from back in 1911.
In Maths, we have spent our week on division. The children have been working hard to develop their knowledge of their times tables to speed this up. This is an ongoing target for all children.
Our favourite lesson this week was Science, where we pretended to be the Solar System and demonstrate how the planets rotate around the Sun.
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Frankie. She has worked extremely hard with Miss Harris to multiply and divide 4-digit numbers. Well Done Frankie!
Have a great weekend
