Test 22.3.24
We’ve had a FUN Friday!
The children all came in dressed in all different colours for Red Nose Day! All we have sung is the Shaun the Sheep theme song! Haha!
In English, we have focused on improving our writing and making it more interesting for the reader. We have begun to write our own story ending to ‘The Jamie Drake Equation’ because we all wanted to know what happened to our alien BZZZ.
In Maths, the children achieved some great scores on their ‘Decimals and Percentages’ end of topic test. We have started our unit on ‘Perimeter and Area’, where the children have been calculating the area of shapes.
In Science this week, the children shared their views and had a debate on their beliefs about Stonehenge. We had some very interesting ideas, including dinosaurs!
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Lila! For always being super helpful around the classroom and for her great start to writing her alien story ending. Well Done!
Have a great weekend

What a ‘magical week’ we have had!
This week we celebrated World Book Day, where the children were able to travel around Hogwarts and attend different magical lessons. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and seeing different teachers.
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Gian for his amazing engagement when learning about The Norman Conquest. Well Done!

This week, the children have really enjoyed our book ‘The Jamie Drake Equation’ and have used this to write character descriptions on an alien of their choice. They have worked extremely hard to ensure they include fronted adverbials, powerful adjectives and parenthesis to make their writing interesting.
In Maths this week, the children have mastered rounding decimals to the nearest whole number, ready to progress onto next week, where we will look at more rounding and understanding percentages.
This afternoon has been a great opportunity for the children to practice their pastel blending skills through the style of the famous artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. His work is very abstract and includes many patterns, which the children have used to inspire them to create their skulls today. Please see photograph below:
Our Golden Certificate Winner this week is Theo for his amazing work in Maths! Well Done!
Please remember it is World Book Day next Thursday. Year 5 do have PE in the afternoon, so please make sure costumes/footwear are appropriate.
Have a great weekend!
