What a glorious week! We have loved the sunshine in Elm this week. We have had some lovely afternoon book sharing sessions sat on the grass. It really has been lush☀️ 📕!!
In maths we have finished our time topic. It was a very tricky concept for some of the children so we are going to do some recapping next week. Practice makes perfect! In English we have continued reading our book “the boy who grew dragons 🐉 “. The children are loving this book, they have all said they would love a pet dragon. It has been so lovely to really share a book with the children that they love just as much as I do. In writing we have written non-chronological reports about African animals. Combining our knowledge from Geography and English to write fantastic pieces of factual informative writing.
In science we have been busy observing and recording the changes and growth of our bean plants. The children couldn’t believe that the beans have germinated in cotton wool! We also discussed why the plants with no sunlight have still grown but are not green. It has been a real life learning experience! In art, we have mixed red and yellow to make orange sunsets 🌅. We then drew African animals and trees on black paper and cut them out to make silhouettes.
Have a wonderful weekend in the sun ☀️ .
