This week seems to have flown. Hopefully the concept of Remote Working and TEAM Seminars etc are becoming more familiar. I am certainly more comfortable using TEAMs now and the remote links seem to work well.
The lessons from the Oak Academy are inline with what we should have been studying if the children were in school like normal and I like the way they are presented. They are engaging and the content is accessible. Having said that, I appreciate some children may require a little support and extra help, particularly in maths, and to this end I have passed some details to Mr Bates, our new maths tutor; if I think your child would benefit you should have received an email and a new TEAMS invite for next week’s sessions. Mrs Walters, our new literacy tutor, will have also contacted a few children; she can assist with reading and again she has sent emails and TEAM invites to the children she will help initially.
Here’s this next week’s timetable with links:
Willow Remote Timetable Week 4
Spellings are now given in the literacy lesson on a Thursday. Please ensure your child practise the rules and spellings by creating a list each day (Look, Cover, Write and Check) then use the word in a sentence (in context) and then ask them to define the word. Your child could use google for the definitions of words if they haven’t got a dictionary to hand.
If you haven’t collected the CPG ‘SAT Buster’ books from Reception please do so as all homework will be set using the books themselves. Please write in the books on the pages directed in the homework activities that I will post on subsequent weekly newsletters; this next week’s homework can be found on the slip within the bag containing the books and an explanatory letter as to how the books can help your child prepare for Y7.
The RAF STEM activities are great; I recommend them – we made Hoopsters in class this last week – they are a great alternative to a paper aeroplane!
Well done to Billy and Emelia for achieving a “CROW’ Award. Billy’s engagement from home is very impressive and Emelia’s percentage work and commitment impressed me.
In the event of query please contact me on the class email: willow@crowmoorschool.co.uk and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Have a super weekend and please stay safe.
