What a week this has turned out to be. We should now have finished our SATs! Due to COVID-19 they were cancelled. This is a situation of mixed emotion – I don’t like the stress it causes some children but for others it marks the end of the year and lots of hard work. SATs have been going since 1998 and in that time they have always been carried out around this time in May – this is a very unusual year!
I went into school on Tuesday and have been working from home completing projects for when, and if, we return. I am in again a couple of days next week when I plan to catch up with you all again on the phone to see if your children are okay and to see if I can offer any further support. At the moment I don’t know whether we are definitely returning in June and whether it will be safe to do so. Rest assured we will do everything we can to ensure we keep your children as safe as possible but we are led by the Government instruction – their guidance to date is vague and lacks clarity. At present we cannot confirm when the children will return and in what capacity.
As a staff we are still virtually meeting where necessary and at least once a week to discuss school issues and what we need to do to help you further.
I have set the new themed homework and am aware that this goes beyond half term – if we return before the homework ends the children might cover some of the areas in school.
I’ll be clapping again to thank those involved in the NHS and caring sector.
As always, a copy of the homework can be requested via the office but do give them time to produce it for you; they are short staffed and very busy.
Have a great weekend. I think the weather is improving – the sunshine makes the staying at home more bearable.
Please do continue to keep safe and well.
