This week it has been assessment week. The children have carried out writing, spelling and punctuation tests and our end of unit test in Maths. It has been great to see how much progress the children have made and areas where we will now work on. Next week, the children will do a reading comprehension and Maths test.
Following on from our end of unit test in Maths we have been looking at word problems and the steps to take to help us solve them. We will continue to look at word problems next week. In Literacy, we have also started to write out setting descriptions. We will continue to write, edit and present our writing next week.
In Science, the children enjoyed looking at how light travels in a line and shadows. We planned and carried out an investigation to find out which material blocks the light and talked about opaque, translucent and transparent.
In PSHE we have been giving compliments and continuing to talk about respectful relationships.
We have also been talking about advent and the children have enjoyed seeing the Christmas decorations up around school and opening our advent calendar in class.
Just a reminder that swimming will now take place after Christmas. We will start the first Friday back after Christmas, Friday 6th January.
Our Golden Certificate Winner is Omar who has been a great role model to his peers this week. He is eager to learn, tries hard and gets on with his work straight away. Well done Omar.
Hope you have a nice weekend,
Mrs Fairclough, Miss Shadbolt and Mrs Davies.
