It seems a rather long time since OFSTED visited us on the 24th and 25th January. We have finally received the OFSTED report which you can read on this link, Crowmoor Primary School, if you would prefer a paper copy please visit the office where you will be able to collect one.
We are extremely saddened by the final outcome of the report. However, we all remain very proud of Crowmoor and its pupils. Two days are not enough to know the true heart and workings of a school and therefore is a snapshot which has now passed. The National debate about the appropriateness of OFSTED and whether it is fit for purpose continues to rage on. I have included some of the findings and statements made in January.
We celebrate that OFSTED noted that our pupils are well cared for in school and teachers and leaders work closely with families. Our pupils are polite to visitors and staff. Unkind behaviours are dealt with. Our pupils are safe at school and can name adults who will help them.
We are proud that our safeguarding was recognised as effective. That leaders record and take effective action around any safeguarding concerns. Support is put in place quickly. Our pupils feel safe and they can name adults in school who they can raise concerns to.
We are incredibly proud of the good personal developments our pupils show and achieve, which was fully recognised by OFSTED. OFSTED saw that the children are provided with opportunities to experience communities beyond the one they live in – they know everyone is different. They show care and respect to people of different religions and cultures, those with disabilities.
We have a broad curriculum which all pupils, including those with SEND, access. Our pupils with SEND receive helpful support in class. Our pupils enjoy the responsibilities they are given.
A number of weeks have passed but we have already taken steps, created an action plan of priorities and via the Department for Education secured funding to support us and improve those areas identified by OFSTED.
I want to say a huge thank you to those of you who were very positive about life at Crowmoor in your questionnaires and conversations with the inspectors.
All of the staff remain positive and enthusiastic about ensuring our next steps and priorities enable all of the children to learn to the very best of their abilities. We strive to continue to give the children all of those opportunities to enable them to …
“Dream, Believe, Achieve.”
We remain “Proud to Be Crowmoor.”
