Welcome back! The countdown to summer begins (and YEAR 6!)
We have started some super exciting units this term. In English, we have started our discussion unit. The children are creating a balanced argument for “Should animals be kept in zoos?”. The children have made an excellent start and have seen the importance of arguing both sides. In Maths, we have began our unit on ‘Position and Direction’. I feel the children have worked exceptionally hard and are always looking to challenge themselves. We are working on our skills when using a ruler. In our afternoons, we have kicked off our ‘Mayan Civilisation’ topic and started linking our Geography to the Mayans. In particular, the children have made some great contributions to our RE unit. They have been extremely respectful when starting this inquiry topic. To maintain positivity as we come to the end of this year, we have created a gratitude jar full of what we are thankful for and our positive affirmations.
Our Golden Certificate this week is Jess J. She is extremely helpful and always tries her hardest in everything. She is Year 5’s top reader by a mile and has currently read over 1 million words! She will take home the Oak Class Diary home this weekend. Well done Jess!
We now have the pleasure of extra PE one a Monday again, so please send children in correct school PE kits on a Monday and Thursday.
Please keep up to date with reading, practicing spellings and any Mathletics set.
Have a great weekend
