This week the children have been learning about nouns and adjectives. They know that nouns are people, places and things and that adjectives describe them. Next week we will use adjectives to describe a new obstacle for the family going on a bear hunt.
In maths, we have completed our first unit of Place Value. Next week we will begin Addition and Subtraction. We will use part/whole models to breakdown numbers and put them back together.
We had great fun in science when testing materials to see if they were waterproof or absorbent.
On Monday we will be building model homes for Travelling Ted. To do this, we really need the children to bring in cardboard boxes from home. Cereal boxes, shoe boxes… everything helps.
Our first week of Phase 5 phonics has gone very well. The children have enjoyed learning the new graphemes for the sounds we already know. Next week they will be learning to apply their knowledge when blending to read longer words e.g. rooftop, earring, bedroom, lightning, powder, farmer…
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Dowell, Mrs Armstrong and Miss Harrison.
