This week in literacy, we’ve been learning more about features of a biography including third person and fronted adverbials ready to include them in our biography next week. Today we’ve been finding out about Captain Sir Thomas Moore who we will be writing a biography about.
In maths, we’ve been finishing off place value and looking at round to the nearest multiple of 10, 100 and 1,000. Next week we’ll start to look at addition and subtraction.
We’ve continued talking about families and how they are all different. Today we’ve talked about people that are important to us and why, and what makes us part of a family.
Our Golden Certificate winner is Noah. He is a great role model who gets on with everyone in class and always tries hard. Well done Noah.
We hope you have a great weekend and see you next week.

This week seems to have flown by!
The children have voted for our class School Council Representatives and UNICEF Ambassadors. This afternoon we’ve been talking about the rights of the child and they have been sharing all the rights they know and think a child should have.
Our Golden Certificate winner this week went to Lila for her fantastic Autumn poem using alliteration. Well done Lila. The children all worked hard this week to edit and improve their work and we will be creating a class book of all the great poem they have written. We will be moving onto biographies next week.
In Maths, we have been continuing with our place value unit where we have been representing, partitioning and finding one more and less.
The children have taken home their one page profiles to add to (on the back) and bring back to school. They have also brought home spellings to learn ready for their spelling test next Friday.
Have a great weekend and keep reading 😊

Hello and welcome/welcome back to you all. We had a busy first week back and have really enjoyed meeting you all this week. We have talked a lot about our school and class rules and expectations and have created our Class Charters where we want us all to be happy, try our best and learn to our full potential in Sycamore Class.
On Friday the children really enjoyed going out on our Autumn walk using our senses and thinking of nouns, verbs and adjectives.
Theo has been awarded The Golden Certificate for his fantastic attitude to his learning and being able to edit and improve his work in Literacy. Well done.
I wanted to say a little about me (Mrs Fairclough), as one of their new class teachers. I have been a teacher at Crowmoor for just over a decade now and do remember a lot of the children in Year 4 from when they were in nursery. I love teaching and want my children to learn, be happy and enjoy learning in class. I enjoy reading and the children have already noticed I am a big Harry Potter fan. When I get home from school, I enjoy spending time with my family, going on walks and dancing.
