It was great to catch up with so many parents and to celebrate the hardwork of the class. We are now into the last two months prior to SATs; it is an important last final push but I will try to alleviate stress and make the time as enjoyable as possible. Your children are working so hard and we will all breathe a sigh of relief when they have finished. In literacy we have progressed our study of journalistic writing and in maths we have looked at time and reading timetables. Next week we have a gymnastic session in addition to our normal PE and on Wednesday we return to Belvidere for the second session of our rocket workshop. Our class member of the week certificate goes to Sarah. Have a super weekend.

Another busy week. In Literacy, we finished our poetry unit and have started our journalist study. In Maths we have looked at more measures and on Wednesday we went to another great Belvidere Science practical workshop where we learnt about rockets and made some in groups – session to continue and a competition to follow! Well done to everyone with regard to their fantastic World Book Day outfits; they were the best I had seen for some time. Ben wins our ‘Class Member of the Week’ certificate and Carmen won the ‘Best Outfit’ for World Book Day. See you at Parent’s Evenings next Monday and Tuesday; in the meantime please stay warm, safe and enjoy the snow.

This week has gone so quickly. The children have continued to work very hard and deserve a break. I have set a little homework to ensure they keep their skills ticking along. This week’s highlight was going to see ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ at Belvidere Secondary. The standard was incredibly high and it was professionally put together. Earlier in the week we acted out scenes from our play scripts following the influence of ‘The Highwayman’ and we produced scary and atmospheric writing about ‘The Deserted House’. In maths we continued with measures. The ‘Class Member of the Week’ certificate goes to Bruna Brava. Have a fantastic half term.

We are all getting in the Christmas spirit – we decorated our baubles for the tree at St Chad’s and we investigated the different Christmas traditions around the World. The spellings this week also relate to the Yuletide theme! We completed our half termly assessments this week and the children are aware of their scores. The fair tonight will raise some money and it will be fun – see you there! Have a fantastic weekend.
