What a fabulous day we have had! Everyone looked great in their spots. I also enjoyed seeing their odd socks throughout the week. We have been thinking really hard about what it takes to be a good friend. We now have instructions for ‘Friendship Soup’ on our classroom door.
This week we have started out new book ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’. We have described the characters and found contractions in the text. They know that ‘don’t’ can be replaced by ‘do not’. The apostrophe is because letters have been omitted.
The children have enjoyed learning more about the properties of 2D shapes. They now know how to count the sides and vertices accurately. Next week we will be looking in more detail at 3D shapes. They will know about their faces, edges and vertices. We continue to have daily practice of the column method for addition and subtraction.
I am really pleased with the number of costumes that have been brought in so far. Every little contribution helps to make sure that the children all look wonderful in their performance of Santa’s Setbacks. They are working hard to learn the words to the songs and their lines. Next week we will be getting used to moving around on the stage and saying our lines at the right time. Please help your child to practice speaking clearly and loudly so that they can be heard across a room.
Have a fab weekend, keep reading!
