This week has gone so fast. The children have completed a writing assessment. They wrote a description of a magical wizard; they have really good imaginations. We have also been learning Kung Fu Punctuation moves to help them to remember capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks and question marks – ask them for a demonstration but stand well back! Next week we will continue to prepare for our information text about British nocturnal animals.
In maths, the children have been trying the tricky step of adding by making ten then adding on. For example: 8+5 can be solved by first adding 2 to make ten then adding the remaining 3. So, 8+5 is the same as answer as 10+3. They will learn to do this in their head, but it takes time if they are not fluent in recalling the number bonds of all numbers to ten. Please help them with this crucial knowledge as much as you can.
We continue to mix primary colours and white. This week we have learnt about warm and cool colours looking at the work of Robert and Sonia Delaunay who were a married couple who liked to paint together.
I am especially pleased with how independent the children are becoming at preparing for an art lesson and their approach to tidying up after themselves. Our rule is that nobody takes off their apron until the whole class is tidy and all paint put away. Well done!
We could do with some more newspaper donations please, as we are running low. Thank you.
Next week is going to be busy. Parents’ Evenings on Monday and Tuesday. Then DISCO on Wednesday, I believe the children are to come to school dressed for the disco, I’m sure they will all enjoy giving the class a fashion show!
After half term, PE will only be on Tuesdays.
Have a fab weekend, there’s only a little bit of rain in the forecast so we might dodge it if we’re lucky!
