It was great to welcome the children back to school after a super holiday. Everything seems to be opening up a little more and I am really enjoying the new freedoms that we couldn’t appreciate in Lockdown. Our class attendance has been really good this week and the children have returned motivated and enthused.
We started a few new topics this week; in Science, we are going to learn about the circulatory system, in History, we are looking at the Mayans and in Geography we are looking at the location of America and comparing it to the UK. We are finishing off some units that we started last term – algebra in Maths and quest writing in Literacy. The children have their normal PE lesson on a Wednesday and their club night on a Thursday.
This term is all about transition and ensuring the children have the necessary subject content and skills to help them when they progress to either Belvidere, Meole Brace or Shrewsbury Academy. We have the play to look forward to; I just need to work out some COVID compliant logistics like how we can share it and how we can include the children in Y5.
I’ll set homework this week; your child will come home with a slip. Please continue to encourage the completion and marking as it is intended to help your child in their transition.
Have a superb weekend. The weather is stunning at the moment and is hopefully here to stay.
