We’ve had a good week. We are now back into most of our routines and the children have continued to settle well. I appreciate it has been different, having said that I think the children are thriving on being together again. The social aspect of school is so important.
We started a history topic this week and are currently studying the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. It is a period of history that appeals to most children. We looked at what life was like prior to the Vikings coming over and their raid on Lindesfarne. This unit blends well with our Literacy unit for the next fortnight – Quests.
The children also benefited from three PE sessions this week. Mr Edwards came into school to train the class in cross-country and how we can best pace ourselves when running. I enjoyed the sessions but realised I need to get a little fitter. We will enter a competition with other schools shortly and I am in the process of selecting the children who will represent the school.
We have some assessments next week to see where the children are. This will help me ascertain what we need to cover in the Summer Term and help me work out groupings and how I can allocate classroom assistance. Your child has their new Accelerated Reading score and ZPD banding.
The homework for this week can be found below and the answers can be found on the class website ‘HOMEWORK’ tab.
Have a great weekend.
