Religious Education
At Crowmoor, for R.E. (Religious Education), we follow the Shropshire Agreed Syllabus.
The Shropshire Agreed Syllabus Principal aim is:
‘The principal aim of religious education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.’
The syllabus has three aims which underpin every unit of work:
-
make sense of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs
-
understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious beliefs
-
make connections between religious and non-religious beliefs, concepts, practices and ideas studied.
As set out by the ‘Agreed Syllabus’, children at Crowmoor will study Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus and other religions and nonreligious worldviews.
