Year 6 have transitioned smoothly into the school year! This is a fun and important time for our children, and I am so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm. They have embraced new rules and routines, setting a positive tone for the rest of the year.
We have begun our reading journey with the book ‘Holes’ the children have predicted what they think the text will be around and have discussed key vocabulary the author uses. Please ensure you child brings their Reading Record into school every day.
In English, we are writing character descriptions of Stanley Yelnats, diving deep into the text to understand his personality and experiences.
In maths we are concentrating on place value, working with numbers up to 10,000,000. Including reading and writing numbers, ordering and comparing and rounding.
This week, we had a visit from the Youth club. They discussed the details and different activities with Year 5 and 6. Information about this will be coming home today.
We have also been enjoying our swimming sessions each Friday. The children have shown great confidence in this important skill.
Please look out for our Curriculum Overview giving more details about the topics we are learning about this term.
