The children have thoroughly enjoyed the book Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman. We have described all the different underpants and retold the story whilst focussing on using capital letters and full stops correctly. Everyone's handwriting is improving but there's still lots to do!
In maths the children have worked very hard mastering the greater than> and less than< symbols. All can talk confidently when comparing two numbers; using the symbols was a bit trickier but they didn't give up and showed great resilience, well done!
Thank you for supporting your child with the Science task. It was their choice to take the task home after we had completed a similar one in the classroom. It's great when they take their learning home.
In Geography we are studying the local area. This week they have been looking at the different housing types: detached, semi-detached, terraced, flats, bungalows... See how many different types they can spot on your journey to school!
Please make sure you child has these items in school every day:
waterproof coat - we go outside as much as possible!
water bottle - it's thirsty work being in Year 1
book bag with their reading book and Reading Record
named jumper or cardigan - they take them off and leave them in the most peculiar places!
Every child has their own labelled coat peg and tray in the classroom; they are responsible for their belongings (with lots of reminders!).
Have a lovely weekend. Please keep reading!
